***Per Diem employees must make themselves available to work a minimum of 3 full shifts per month in their home department, one of which is a weekend shift in departments with weekend staffing. Availability must be provided to the department prior to the closure of the department's scheduling process. Availability must align with open shifts on the schedule. Must be available to work 1 premium pay summer holiday and 1 premium pay winter holiday. In addition to advanced scheduling, the per diem employee may be called to help with last minute scheduling needs***Summary of Position: This position, along with required radiology technologists (R) skills, performs diagnostic computed tomography (CT), computed tomography angiography (CTA) scans, and all associated post-processing procedures according to established policies and procedures and protocols. Archives data into the PACS system and maintains accurate records of daily operations. Optimal diagnostic quality is expected per established quality processes and protocols. Services are provided based on the ages of the population served; pediatric through geriatric. Maintains equipment and supplies utilized in the provision of services. Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to effectively utilize required equipment and identify and meet the individualized needs of all patients. Assists physicians during procedures as needed ensuring the safety of the staff and patient. The CT Technologist is under the daily supervision of the lead Technologist and reports to the Director of Medical Imaging.QualificationsEducation:•Completion of an accredited Radiology Technologist program required.•Completion of an accredited computed tomography program preferred.Experience:•Minimum of one year experience as a Radiology Technologist preferred.•Previous recent experience as CT Technologist required.•Able to complete all CT modality competency forms.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:•Sufficient computer skills as are required to complete an online application and the pre- employment computer training requirements•In compliance with patient safety standards, must be able to effectively communicate in English; Bilingual abilities preferredCertifications/Licensure:•Current ARRT registry as radiologic Technologist (R) required.•ARRT (CT) registry required or registry eligible within 6 months after hire date.•Current California x-ray certification (CRT) required.•Current California fluoroscopy certification, or obtained within 3 months after hire date•Current CPR/BLS certification by the American Heart Association (BLS for the Healthcare Provider) or ability to obtain prior to start datePhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Essential Functions1. Provide consistently exceptional care at all times.2. Performs Computed Tomography (CT) scans and basic aspects of CT post processing in accordance with professional standards and protocols.3. Assists physician during CT guided interventional procedures. Ensures sterile technique is maintained during these invasive procedures4. Performs radiographic exams in accordance to protocols. 5. Is able to competently utilize all electronic medical imaging computer programs to include PACS, RIS, EMR, QC programs, CD burning, and other related programs to perform daily job duties.6. Recognizes situations outside of his/her expertise and only performs duties within their abilities and scope of practice. Seeks guidance of coworkers or supervisors when needed. 7. Prepares and maintains imaging rooms and ensures availability of supplies. 8. Is professional resource to other members of the patient care team in area of expertise.9. Effectively coordinates daily activities and works professionally and respectfully with supervisor, leads, radiologists, and co-workers. Is self-motivated. Able to safely and effectively set priorities. 10. Keeps patient/family informed of process, procedures, timeframes. Focuses on customer service needs. Effectively educates patients, families in procedure. 11. Monitors and ensures all documentation is complete and accurate. 12. Prepares written reports, evaluations as required by standards. 13. Operates equipment and performs job related duties in a safe manner; observes and interprets machine functioning. Maintains diagnostic instruments in good working order; performs scheduled preventative maintenance; follows procedure when equipment malfunctions. 14. Orients, instructs and trains assigned personnel.15. Is able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to identify each patient's age-specific needs. 16. Demonstrates a working knowledge of regulatory and licensing standards and ensures that practice is compliant with standards. 17. Responds to the needs of the department by performing other duties, as necessary, including shift charge tech if assigned.18. Expected to pursue and maintain continuing education in all areas of registry to unsure current knowledge and best practices for your field(s) of practice. 19.
