Tax Accountant (Sales and Use and Personal Property)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for an experienced Sales and Use and Personal Property Tax professional for one of its growing clients in the Greater Cincinnati area. Ideal candidates will have at least 2 years of relevant experience along with intermediate Microsoft Excel skills. This position is Temp to Hire and will pay between $22 and $26/hr.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare, review, and file sales and use tax returns accurately and timely across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws.
  • Manage tax exemption certificates and ensure proper documentation.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify compliance and address discrepancies.
  • Prepare and file personal property tax returns.
  • Maintain accurate records of company assets and ensure correct valuation.
  • Coordinate with various departments to gather necessary data for tax filings.
  • Handle tax assessments, notices, and appeals.
  • Conduct research on tax issues and changes in tax legislation.
  • Advise management on the impact of new tax laws and regulations.
  • Identify and implement tax-saving opportunities.
  • Assist in developing and executing strategic tax planning initiatives.
  • Assist with tax audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
  • Ensure all audit findings are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in sales and use tax and personal property tax accounting.
  • In-depth knowledge of state and local tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience with multi-state tax filings.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
