The Team
The Finance Department provides leadership, guidance and oversight of ALIGHT’s financial resources. These ALIGHT operations include planning, accountability, monitoring, headquarters accounting, grant management and field financial support.
We have a unique approach to working with those we serve. Providing basic services just isn’t our style. As such, the Finance department is part of the newly formed Platform Services team. Along with HR & Administration, this highly talented and technical group is comprised of Finance, Logistics, Grants Management, and Donor Services. Platform Services provides adaptable and relevant support for our customers that will inspire and allow them to unleash their full potential.
The Role
Based in Minneapolis, you’ll be guided by and receive support from the Accounting and AP Manager. Simply put, your purpose will be to be Audit-ready at all times.
You’ll know you’re doing well if you perform established finance practices and ensure compliance with ALIGHT policies and procedures for the accounting activities of the organization, including accounts payable, payroll and US Government donor compliance.

Accounts Payable - 65% of time
With your experience you will review and process payment requests from staff and invoices from suppliers assuring that procedures are well documented and executed to perform the following functions:
Proficient knowledge of ALIGHT procurement and account coding policies; and payment, recording, and filing procedures for vendors.
Maintain vendor records, review and verify Payment Request Forms and supporting documentation.
Enter purchase invoices (Payment Request Forms) into the accounting system.
Process accounts payable payment requests daily
Submit request for wire payments, print and distribute signed checks, file the Payment Request Forms/invoices.
Work with the team to initiate ACH processes to reduce reliance on wire payments.
Ensure that all payment requests include a test for US Dept of State prohibited individuals.
Prepare weekly A/P aging report and take appropriate action on outstanding invoices.
Prepare annual Form 1099s.
Proficient knowledge of Alight Credit Card and Travel Reimbursement Policy and Procedures
Process credit card payments.
Review and process Employee Travel and Expense Reports and resolve issues.
Enter Employee Travel and Expense Reports into the accounting system.
Prepare weekly/monthly Employee Travel Advance aging report and take appropriate action on outstanding invoices.
General Ledger interface with Accounts Payable and other adjustments reconciliations, and information -20% of the time
With your experience you will enter information from the accounts payable process into the General Ledger accounts and ensure that payable and receivable accounts are reconciled and current.

Assure all accounts payable entries are properly coded and reconciled in the general ledger accounts.

Prepare journal entries including monthly expense accruals and allocations.

Enter expense information from credit card expense reports.

Assure employee and other advance accounts are reconciled and follow up on late payments.

Retain documentation in appropriate Sharepoint cloud folders for easy access.

Extract general ledger details for management reporting.
Audit - 10% of time.
Assist with year-end audit including providing all necessary documents.
Assist with grant audits throughout the year to provide supporting documentation and schedules.
Ensure all AP files and supporting documentation are organized so they are Audit Ready at all times by maintaining them properly.
Communicate any problems or concerns regarding procedures or any other issues with management.
New or Interesting Projects/Progressive Responsibilities – 5%

Investigate the possibility to move the AP processing flow and documentation to Sharepoint.
Qualifications

We’re also looking for the following technical competencies:
Formal Professional experience or Academic training in accounting and finance and at least 3-4 years’ experience in accounts payable and general ledger accounting.
Working knowledge of non-profit/fund accounting is a plus.

Computer skills including competency in Excel spreadsheets, work documents, etc

Knowledge of accounting systems such as Serenic Navigator or Microsoft Dynamics Nav (Navision) is a plus.
Detail-oriented, organized and respect for accuracy in numbers is essential.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Highly motivated self-starter
