Position Summary:

The Systems Engineer is a ccountable to design, develop and execute test and validation procedures to further the validation of electrification products in development. The Electrical Systems Engineer will work in the product development engineering department as an electro-mechanical systems engineer. Primary responsibilities will focus on the detailed design, development and execution of test and validation procedures. This will require system level understanding of electrical, software, and mechanical design and design requirements.

Responsibilities

Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Performs upfront analysis of technical requirements (electrical, software and mechanical). Determines if/how requirements can be met and clarifies with customer as needed.
  • Completes the detailed test design and test development work required to validate the product to system requirements.
  • Detailed design work for mechanical and electrical hardware as needed.
  • Owns the test concept and execution as it pertains to development schedules and budgeted cost.
  • Strong history of effective communication within a cross-functional team and the ability to draw conclusion and make recommendations based upon inputs from multiple functions.
  • Support definition, decomposition, and documentation of requirements by planning from system to subsystem to component while leveraging cross-functional team inputs.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical engineering leadership for customer-oriented projects.
  • Travels to customer locations with sales staff to observe applications and collect information necessary for addressing specific customer needs.
  • Ability to decompose complex problems into tasks lists and provide timing estimates.
  • Participates in the process of screening vendors and their products for use by Horton.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Systems Engineer Qualifications:

  • Requires a four-year BS degree in engineering, MS degree is a plus
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in a regulated field (automotive, aviation, medical device)
  • Experience developing electro-mechanical systems
  • Experience designing test equipment and validation procedures is a plus
  • Hands-on embedded system experience either on the hardware or software side is a plus.

Note: equivalent education equals 2 years of closely related experience for 1 year of education.

Must be able to show legal authorization to work in the United States. No Visa sponsorship provided.
