Overview:

Princeton University seeks a highly motivated, well-qualified individual to serve as Senior Compliance Administrator, Research Integrity and Assurance (RIA), reporting to the Associate Director for Conflicts of Interest (COI). RIA is responsible for developing and implementing research compliance programs in the areas of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for human subjects research, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) for animal research, the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) for research using biohazardous agents, and COI. This position presents a unique and challenging opportunity to support and advance the universitys world-class research enterprise by ensuring a successful COI compliance program.

Deploying strong analytical skills, attention to detail and excellent interpersonal/communication skills, the Senior Compliance Administrator will support the COI Program for the Office of the Dean of the Faculty appointees at Princeton University. The role is newly created to reflect the increased prominence and attention that COI has received in this evolving research security and federal agency space.

The Senior Compliance Administrator supports the Universitys research COI program. The program is responsible for the review and management of faculty, academic professionals, and outside relationships that are related to research, to ensure compliance with sponsor regulations and institutional policies for conflicts of interest and commitment. This work advances and preserves the integrity of Princetons research by facilitating beneficial collaborations with industry that improve academic research within the applicable requirements. This person will frequently interact with faculty and research professionals to provide advice on the policies relating to conflicts of interest and commitment in research, and identify issues and risks for consideration by the Conflict of Interest in Research (COIR Panel). The person will participate in developing and disseminating policies and education to faculty and research staff, and should be able to work independently with general supervision.

Responsibilities:

- Under guidance from the Associate Director, responsible for the timely intake and review of COI disclosure forms that may pose conflicts of interest with research under institutional policies and/or sponsor regulations.

- Provide information and support to the Associate Director regarding the COIR Panel by identifying cases, trends, and issues for Panel consideration. Develop and maintain project reporting as requested.

- Work closely with the Office of Research Projects Administration (ORPA) regarding internal and external disclosures, COI training compliance checks, and all other COI related issues are resolved to meet regulations required for successful grant proposal and award.

- Take lead role in the administration, testing, updating, and operation of the soon-to-be launched enterprise electronic management system for research COI.

- Answer questions from faculty, research staff, directors, administrators, other internal customers or external academic affiliates regarding conflict-of-interest policies and processes in formal and informal settings. Facilitate compliance with institutional policies by enabling these individuals to understand policy requirements.

- Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines in functional areas, based on cases and other priorities or initiatives as identified by supervisors. Participate in the design and delivery of corresponding training and website content relating to policy development.

- Monitor updates and changes in sponsor requirements and create tools to assist with compliance monitoring.

- Enhance professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, distributing and reading current literature and conducting and participating in in-service meetings and workshops.

- Maintain attention to detail and auditable records as directed.

Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelors degree required, preferably in a scientific or legal field
5+ years of experience with conflicts of interest, research compliance, sponsored research administration, or comparable regulatory experience
Proficient level experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Strong editing and proofreading skills
Demonstrated ability in utilizing independent judgment; must possess general knowledge about COI regulations and practices and can identify issues and problem solve in a deadline-driven environment
Requires general knowledge about COI regulations and practices, discretion, and diplomacy
Strong information technology (IT) and data management IT system skills including best practices to work with highly sensitive data
Experience in developing and implementing institutional policies, guidelines, and procedures
Ability to work flexible hours outside of normal work schedule
Exceptional organization and project management skills including the ability to plan, schedule and successfully carry out multiple projects at the same time with minimal supervision
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and identify, prioritize, and plan activities necessary to meet department and university goals
Exceptional communication skills involving sensitive subjects with key research personnel balancing the need for regulatory management and oversight with
Ability to apply confidentiality rules and procedures when dealing with sensitive materials
Evidence of successful experience in providing superior customer service
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people at all levels
Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion goals
High degree of personal integrity and ethics with uncompromising standards
Proven ability to form partnerships with faculty to accomplish compliance objectives
Excellent training skill sets with proven proficiency, including ability to monitor progress and success of training applications

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant post-graduate education preferred, but not necessary.
Experience at an academic, research, or hospital setting (such as grants management, human subjects research, or research administration
Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain auditable records
Experience in online course development and website content development
