At TLC Electronics, we strive everyday to "Work together to enhance the lives of others"Job Purpose:This position is responsible for daily set up, programming, and operation of automated wire harness manufacturing machines paying close attention to quality and ensuring it meets specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements.Process DevelopmentCore Responsibility•Create and edit programs for automated wire harness manufacturing equipment•Support development of new fixturing for automated plugging applications•Work with Engineering Department on First Articles and validation exercises•Refine and optimize existing machine programsMachine OperationCore Responsibility•Set up cut/strip/crimp machines per process sheet•Operate multiple machines simultaneously•Troubleshoot process issues and adjust settings if necessary•Exchange cutting blades, rollers, and guide tubes to match the wire being processed•Clean any debris from the machine before, during, and after each run•Count and bundle cut wires in easy to manage groups•Operate machines effectively to minimize scrap•Sort and remove defective parts or products•Move between machines as assigned by schedule, Lead, Supervisor, or ManagerMachine MaintenanceCore Responsibility•Complete maintenance and PM work on machines•Troubleshoot issues and repair if necessary•Communicate with manufacturer representative to troubleshoot or schedule repairQuality AssuranceCore Responsibility•Understand and inspect products against IPC standards•Read and interpret customer prints•Enter applicable job data into ERP systemSafety and CleanlinessCore Responsibility•Adhere to all safety regulations•Identify and report any safety concerns•Maintain a clean work environment by cleaning workstation and plant areas as assignedProduction SupportSecondary Responsibility•Help set-up applicators in semi-auto machines•Help troubleshoot applicator issuesComplete other tasks or duties as assigned.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:•Ability to program automated equipment.•Ability to set-up and operate machines related to wire/cable processing.•Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.•High mechanical aptitude.•Math skills including the ability to solve fractions, addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication problems.•Troubleshoot problems with the operation of automated machines.•Working knowledge of wire harness, assembly processes and practices, tooling, and fixtures.•High degree of manual dexterity.•Ability to accurately read a ruler/tape measure.•Ability to use a caliper/micrometer and microscope.•Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures (SOPs), schematics, prints, and drawings.•Ability to perform repetitive work.•Ability to learn various operations and equipment within the production floor and perform proficiently.•Skill to perform inspections.•Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.•Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers.•Ability to adapt to changes in technology.•Good verbal communications skills.•Ability to use and understand computers and their software programs such as an ERP system.•Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and kneel as job requires.•Able to question or identify the need for additional / missing information such as dimensions or tolerances.Qualifications:Minimum•Associate's degree in Automated Systems, Robotics Programing, or similar field; or equivalent experience in robotic programming.Preferred:•Experience with wire cutting and processing equipment•Four (4) or more years of experience in a related position or equivalent work experience with machine set-up and operation.•Lean manufacturing and continual process improvement experience.•Familiar with ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 quality standards•Familiar with an ERP system.
