Job Summary

The Financial Portfolio Post Award Analyst is a critical member of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DPBS) Financial Services Team and plays a crucial role in the overall successful support and management of funding for the Faculty & Principal Investigators specifically in Post Award Funds Management. As a valued Team member in the Financial Services Unit, this position will benefit from the vast pool of experience that exists within the Team, all who are ready and willing to provide support and training to new Team members.

The Financial Portfolio Post Award Analyst independently provides broad analytical fund management to a group of Research focused Faculty, with overall complex budget, financial, and resource analysis .

The Analyst will rely on strong communication skills to be able to present and discuss data and reports to various client groups. The candidate will successfully

research, interpret, clarify and apply all applicable Grants & Contract,

Agency, Departmental, and University policies and regulation, and to be able to clearly communicate the complexities of language around such polices and regulations. This position requires a high level of ethics and professional standards to handle sensitive matters with tact and sound judgment. The Analyst will participate in larger dynamic Team projects, which will help to build the experience, understanding and networking skills for successful career development at UCSF

This is a hybrid-remote position, which includes a combination of 2 days on-site and remote work.

Department Description

The UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is among the nation's foremost resources in the field of child, adolescent and adult mental health. Psychiatry faculty members are recognized for their leadership roles in state-of-the-art, comprehensive and compassionate patient care, pioneering research, excellence in training the next generation of leaders, advancing public policy to advance mental health, and commitment to diversity.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related area and minimum three years experience or equivalent combination of experience / training. Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of fund management and administration. Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles. Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports. Independent judgment and strong organization and communication skills and customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas. Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; strong service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Ability to independently gather required information to organize and perform financial analysis assignments. Proven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Proven ability using spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Proven ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment. Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Ability to function as a member of a team. Ability to manage significant volume of transactions. Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
