The IT Portfolio Analyst is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and creating highly-effective artifacts and reports on IT projects, programs, and portfolios. Provides direct support for curating the portfolio, resource planning, project compliance, and reconciliation with financial systems. Will also manage the use and administration of the organization's project and portfolio management platform. The candidate will be working in the IT Planning & Delivery Office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

May perform financial analysis as directed/needed.

  • Assists with development and maintenance of project budget estimates and actuals reporting, including improving processes to tracking actual spend against forecasted spend to ensure projects remain within financial parameters.
  • Prepares financial reports and dashboards for IT Leadership, supporting IT portfolio investment strategy, highlighting key financial metrics, variances from the budget, and risk areas.
  • Collaborates with project managers to align financial forecasts with project schedules and work plans, adjusting financial plans as necessary based on project progress.
  • Evaluates project portfolio-related invoice and expense process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies and contractual agreements.
  • Implements financial controls and compliance measures for project accounting, ensuring adherence to company policies, GAAP standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitates financial audit processes for projects, providing necessary documentation and explanations to auditors to support project expenditures and financial reporting.
  • Works closely with Finance team to reconcile IT project portfolio spend with actuals from financial systems.
Performs data analysis, creates reports and dashboards to measure performance and resource utilization across IT projects to maximize delivery.
  • Creates and collects portfolio information useful in strategy and planning and creates transparency of operational performance to drive continuous improvement. Identifies, evaluates, and escalates risks to the portfolio.
  • Provides comprehensive analysis of portfolio data and makes recommendations. Develops, evaluates and utilizes the most appropriate analytical and visualization methodologies to present project and portfolio data to drive decision making, scenario planning, process health indicators (PHI), and key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Tracks IT resource allocations to identify potential delivery roadblocks. Collates and documents accurate and relevant data to support budgeting and forecasting.
  • Creates reports and dashboards for IT projects analyzing data on budget, risk, timelines, etc. Identifies trends and provides insights into performance. Identifies gaps and makes recommendations to mitigate risk and ensure project deliverables.
Develops, measures, and monitors metrics for the IT Portfolio.
  • Defines thresholds and tolerances for scope, schedule and cost metrics and makes recommendations for preventative and/or remedial actions to take to avoid critical situations.
  • Conducts post-mortem and root-cause analysis when thresholds are met or are not met and revises metrics to improve their effectiveness.
  • Identifies opportunities to enhance IT Portfolio reporting and performance by analyzing key trends, visually representing, and interpreting data, ensuring data integrity for continuous improvement.
  • Performs quantitative and qualitative data analysis related to the delivery of IT initiatives, roadmap planning and overall portfolio performance.
  • Works closely with the IT Portfolio Manager, Project Managers, and Leadership to focus on leading portfolio review and analysis, governance, process improvement, forecasting trends, defining and maintaining key performance indicators, and providing analytical support.
Collaborates with program teams and all stakeholders across the portfolio on IT delivery initiative reviews.
  • Builds trusted and effective relationships working with project managers to ensure project delivery on-time, on-budget, with high quality, and identifying issues as needed.
  • Communicates IT delivery issues to program managers as they are discovered and makes recommendations to address obstacles.
  • Participates in periodic portfolio review meetings to address existing and potential issues. Delivers clear and accurate analysis to facilitate stakeholder discussions.
  • Partners with IT business leaders to provide in depth support to the IT PDO team in the reporting and analysis process.
Contributes to continuous improvement of IT delivery management processes.
  • Contributes ideas and develops tools for capturing data to measure delivery processes and business success metrics to ensure information and reports are consistent.
  • Contributes to the definition of IT processes, continually monitors and evaluates the quality of data, and institutes markers to ensure adherence to established processes.
  • Develops supporting tools, procedures, documentation, and training for compliance. Provides guidance to project managers in the adoption and compliance with project management standards.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required with a major or emphasis in Business, Accounting, Statistics, or related field.Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project coordination, management, delivery accountability, or similar financial or business analyst role required. Experience in an information systems/technology environment preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Experience creating reports and dashboards. Skilled in Excel and proficient in Power BI or other reporting tools.
  • Advanced quantitative and analytical skills and ability to identify trends and insights.
  • Strong business acumen and presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project management best practices, budget analysis, and forecasting. Knowledge of large-scale portfolios.
  • Excellent information management, collation and reporting skills, and proficiency with reporting tools such as Smartsheet, JIRA, or other similar PPM tools.
  • Excellent information analysis and presentation skills, with the ability to represent complex information in a simple and meaningful way.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong organization and planning skills; time management and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead efficient meetings and deliver effective presentations.
  • Good problem-solving, organizational, and critical thinking skills. Ability to interact professionally with all organizational levels and escalate issues as needed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.

COMPENSATION

The salary range listed for this position, $77,586.10 to $130,843.64, is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses.If hired at ICW Group, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, experience and/or education.In addition, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.We typically do not hire towards the maximum of the range in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.We also offer a substantial benefits package outlined below.
