Senior Market Risk Analyst

needed for a growing energy company in Houston.

The Senior Market Risk Analyst analyzes financial and credit/collateral risks associated with energy trading and marketing activities, including analyzing the corresponding retail activity. This includes identifying and assessing potential risks, developing and implementing quantitative modeling, and monitoring and reporting on risk exposures. The position may also be responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining risk management tools.

Responsibilities: Evaluate the financial, credit and collateral exposure of complex integrated energy portfolios under dynamic market conditions. Conduct financial analysis and modeling to evaluate the financial and risk profile of potential transactions, along with the associated credit and collateral implications. Support the origination and execution of new business opportunities, including highly structured transactions, in a timely manner. Develop algorithms and predictive models to support risk management decisions, often customized to different market participants frameworks, such as ISOs. Leverage problem solving, analytical skills, and new technologies to enhance and automate various risk processes. Responsible for assembling disparate data sources to create a centralized view for scenario analysis of existing assets as well as prospective transactions. Work with senior risk managers to engage with portfolio managers and research analysts on topics such as risk limit usage, portfolio construction, tail exposure, and forward-looking risk events.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field , such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or Finance. 3+ years of experience in energy, electric, gas, or market risk trading experience. Experience with

Stochastic/Monte Carlo Methods. Strong

quantitative skills , including proficiency in modeling with

Python

large data sets with complex data feeds, as well as proficiency with at least one scripting language other than Python, such as

VBA, MATLAB,

or

R . Proficiency with data management and analytical tools, such as

Power BI

and

SQL . Familiarity with concepts of

mathematical programming

and

market risk modeling

practices. Experience with trading and risk management systems like

Aligne, Endur,

etc. is a plus.
