**In your main role at X-Rite Pantone, you will:**

This role supports daily production operations by securing an optimum supply of material required for manufacturing to meet daily customer/production demand. The primary job responsibilities are to utilize and monitor material planning procedures so as to achieve optimal inventory levels for all materials that the given buyer/planner is responsible for. These procedures involve direct contact with external suppliers, transportation carriers, Customer Service, Engineering, Marketing, and Operation staffs to ensure that all customer and production requirements for both the present and the future are adequately met.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Utilize and monitor material planning procedures ensuring consistent quality, delivery, and cost with a focus on achieving optimal inventory levels.

* Direct contact with outside suppliers, transportation carriers, customer service, and operations staffs to meet/exceed current and projected customer requirements, assuring material availability and optimal inventory levels.

* Diligent review of Materials Requirements Plans (MRP) to identify, communicate, and close any potential production gaps as well as other tactical activity based on MRP plan suggestions.

* Ownership and overseeing Kanban system for purchased components including auditing and being present in physical production cells to assist with visual management and parts presentation.

* Forecast monthly material requirements to vendors to ensure material availability, based on historical data and forward looking forecasted demand.

* Root Cause/Corrective Actions to short term and permanent solutions to material supply issues.

* Suggest and implement appropriate procurement method (JIT, Reorder Point, Consignment, Spot Purchasing, Kanban, or Scheduled Releases) based on part characteristics, supplier, and demand to optimize material inventory levels.

* Contributes, in the capacity of a team member, individually, or as a reference, to resolving materials quality issues and increasing manufacturing productivity.

* Frequently participate in continuous improvement workshops (kaizens) with team members to improve safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and/or productivity metrics throughout the business.

* Assist in achieving immediate and overarching team performance goals (e.g. On Time Delivery, Net Inventory, Inventory Turns, Inventory Accuracy, Material Flows)

* Assist in cost reduction projects and implementation of new product/engineering changes.

**Your Education and/or Background Experience will have:**

* Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Engineering, or equivalent discipline

* 3-5 years of purchasing/sourcing experience

* Lean manufacturing experience including Kanban planning, inventory optimization, and a strong process orientation

* Results driven and possess excellent organization, communication (written and oral), and presentation skills

* Medium to high proficiency in Microsoft Excel

* Data mining, manipulation, and analysis expertise

* Oracle ERP experience preferred
