Job Description - Practice Assistant II (3292673) About Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center: Brigham and Women’s/Mass General Health Care Center is a comprehensive, community-based, multi-specialty ambulatory care center located in Patriot Place, adjacent to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Center offers a wide range of ambulatory services including Day Surgery, Primary Care, Medical and Surgical specialties, as well as comprehensive ancillary services. Each team member embodies the willingness and ability to work across departments to provide an integrated patient experience. Job Specific Duties and Skills for position: Effectively manage encounters and interactions with patients of all ages requiring urgent clinical care on a walk-in basis. Greet patients upon arrival and perform all tasks necessary to ensure needed information for a successful visit. Accurately input all registration and fiscal database information. Operate computer terminal and be proficient in multiple practice management systems. Answer incoming telephone calls in a timely fashion, adhering to organizational and departmental service standards. Manage all calls appropriately, responding directly to customer inquiries when possible. Understand radiology prior authorization process and utilize radiology order entry system to schedule tests. Assist with maintaining space in an orderly fashion and maintaining supply levels. Collect appropriate co-payment, cash receipt, and referrals; perform daily reconciliation. Monitor the waiting room and related patient flow processes. Complete follow-up on past day’s patient visits. Perform all check-out functions, including scheduling follow-up visits. Assist with patient transport within the facility as needed. Support administrative and clinical staff as needed. Certification in BLS (Basic Life Support) is required. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED required; post-high school education preferred. Minimum one year of applicable work experience required. Additional training in office systems preferred. Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required: Knowledge of practice operations and standards. Understanding of procedures including filing, copying, scanning, printing, and faxing. Ability to use phone system effectively. Ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, clear, and concise manner. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Ability to correspond and communicate with others clearly and effectively. Basic understanding and use of medical terminology. Knowledgeable and compliant with all hospital, State, and Federal requirements. Working Conditions: Hospital-based ambulatory practice with normal patient environments where there are some exposures to communicable diseases and related hazards.
