The Senior Information Technology/Operational Technology (IT/OT) Controls Engineer participates as a member of the OT Capability Team to help execute external and internal IT/OT projects. This position reports to the OT Capability Team Leader. The IT/OT Technology Engineer plays an integral role of an IT/OT Subject Matter Expert (SME) by actively participating in IT/OT projects.

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Remote-first with 25 % travel to work in customer facilities as needed. Preference will be given to candidates based in central North Carolina or the Southeast. Relocation assistance is available for highly qualified candidates willing to relocate to Winston-Salem or central North Carolina.

Salary: (Commensurate with education and experience)

On a typical day you will:
  • Work with a team of engineers and, at times, work independently to ensure timely project execution
  • Assist in technical issues related to the delivery of projects
  • Assist in proposal processes with Project Management and Sales
  • Mentor Engineers during start up and execution of projects
  • Attend daily project meetings, client review meetings, and/or internal project review meetings.
  • Participate in client technical meetings
  • Execute and support FATs or onsite SATs and start-up and commissioning activities
  • Drive technical standards for IT/OT offerings
  • Assist in supporting internal IT systems
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leverage technical domain knowledge to help clients define project scope in Front-End Loading Projects as well as the design, configuration, and deployment of IT/OT technologies for Avid's System Integration Projects
  • Participate and/or lead FEL projects to help clients define requirements for Industrial Networks, System Architectures, Industrial Data Centers (IDCs), Virtualization, and OT Hardware/Software selections
  • Lead the implementation of new IT/OT technologies in a way that improves efficiency, builds competitive advantage and/or increases our value in the IT/OT industry market
  • Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of products, services, newly developing IT/OT technologies, trends, evolutions, and practices
  • Showcase individual talents with clients while presenting at conferences, in writing, or one-on-one with clients
  • Stay abreast of industry and technology shifts and trends in the IT/OT industry, to adapt and evolve our business
  • Assist in the development of Commercial Content to show Avid's thought leadership
  • Industrial network design efforts including topologies and segmentation
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in operational technology, data management, or information technology
  • BS in Engineering, Network & Systems Engineering (Information Technology/Electrical/ Electronic), or other related technology field
  • Industry expertise in the IT/OT industry
  • A strong foundation in Industrial Networking, Virtualization, and Server Builds are core to the role
  • Exceptional knowledge of information technology architecture principles and processes
  • Familiarity with networking and cyber security standards such as IEC62443, NERC CIP compliance, enterprise data historians, and data analytics tools
  • Understanding of common networking protocols (i.e., PRP, DLR, etc.) and layouts used for high availability considering pros and cons of different approaches
  • Experience in designing Industrial Data Centers based on client needs (i.e., system redundancy, backup, etc.)
  • Ability to create virtualized environments for Avid's engineering teams, build virtualized server images, configure various Operating Systems, and configuration of Domain Controllers
  • Proven ability to think long term, strategically, with emphasis on business strategy
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills to drive client discussions regarding scope and requirements
  • Experience with various unit operations
  • Extensive start-up and commissioning experience
  • Strong ability to mentor and train inexperienced engineers during start-ups
  • Thrive in a fast-paced agile work environment which requires proactiveness and communication to keep your teammates and clients up to date
  • Ability to work effectively within a group, placing team goals above personal interests to contribute positively to team dynamics and achievements
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+ Certification preferred
  • Fortinet Certified Associate preferred
  • Industrial software (i.e., Rockwell Platform, AVEVA System Platform, etc.) application experience is a plus
  • Understanding of System Integrator business model and best practices is a plus
  • Experience in consulting
  • Experience with technical management of projects and execution
  • Experience supporting peer development through mentoring and coaching activities
