The Job
Pelican Wire, a leading manufacturer of wire and cable, is seeking a dynamic, high performing Receptionist / Customer Service Rep. / Inside Sales Admin. to be the "Director of First Impressions" for our office and perform administrative / data entry work for our Sales Team. You will be the first point of customer contact for calls, visitors, and general inquiries like pricing, products, scheduling etc.

Your Day-to-Day

  • General receptionist and administrative duties
  • Operate telephone switchboard to answer and route calls
  • Clearly communicate customers' requirements to other departments and be an advocate for the customer within Pelican Wire
  • Spend extensive time online with our ERP and other databases to take and/or enter orders; create new accounts; keep records of customer interactions/transactions; record details of inquiries, complaints, comments, and actions taken
  • Administratively support Sales Director, Account Executive, Inside Sales Account Managers, and Outside Sales as assigned / required
  • Review customer purchase orders against quotation and/or established procedures - Resolve any discrepancies and accurately and promptly process orders in accordance with company guidelines
  • Resolve product or service problems by clarifying the customer's complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment - following up to ensure resolution
  • Ensure all necessary information is obtained to process a quotation and provide quotes as requested by customers and process in accordance with procedures
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

  • Ability to analyze information and solve problems
  • Ability to work in an organized, efficient manner with high degree of accuracy
  • Proficient in various computer programs including Microsoft Office
  • Experience working in an ERP /MRP system
  • Knowledge of highly engineered manufacturing products and markets a plus
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish (preferred, not required)
  • Associates degree (preferred, not required)

Work Environment:
Work is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled office and manufacturing area; noise level is quiet to moderate. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and hazards. Steel toe shoes and ear plugs may be required when in the manufacturing areas.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the following physical demands are required:
  • The ability to talk and hear to communicate, detect, discern, discuss, express oneself, and exchange information effectively and clearly
