The Supervisor will also maintain control documentation and traceability related to tooling and calibration. The Supervisor will resolve routine questions, problems and issues related to their area of responsibility.RequirementsEssential Functions of the Job:Reviews routine inspection and testing to ensure conformance to established calibration standards. Maintains, tests, inspects, and calibrates tooling and equipment to ensure it is in good working order. Maintains inventory and supplies, and compiles records for all work performed. Oversees routine maintenance and testing and reports any issues or necessary repairs. Maintains control and traceability related to tooling inside the shop and for outside vendors. Documents and administers all preventive maintenance calibration processes, methods, and procedures. Gathers data and prepares reports, documentation, and certificates required for calibration, as needed.Manages repair and calibration of assessment tools and measurement equipment.Responsible for identifying faulty equipment, assisting with troubleshooting equipment failures, and suggesting upgrades when necessary. Manages workload to achieve maintenance schedules and ensure completion within required timeframe.Coordinates with production, operations, and engineering departments to resolve and repair equipment and ensure adherence to quality standards. Responsible for all aspects of safety and housekeeping within assigned area.Responsible for maintaining the highest quality standards within assigned area.Ensures that employees are aware of and practice ISO9001 quality standards. Acts as a technical resource by training, guiding, and mentoring other employees, as needed. Ensures that tools and materials essential for the performance of the work are readily available. Identifies potential improvements to the operation or product under his/her control.Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and auditors.Cooperates with management of other departments to ensure that work flows in an orderly and productive manner.Maintains a working knowledge of Company Policies and Procedures.Keeps management informed of any potential problems in his/her area.Performs other assignments as directed.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's):Knowledge and understanding of metal fabrication, machine shop, mechanical assembly, welding, coating and related processes and techniques. Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing methodology and principles: Five "S", value stream mapping, waste reduction, takt time, etc.Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings.Ability to provide hands-on technical support in a production environment.Knowledge of laws, regulations, and agency rules associated with employee health and safety in a manufacturing environment.Basic proficiency in the use of personal computers; including manufacturing/production systems and generic mainstream office software (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.)Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to a problem.Ability to motivate, develop and direct people to perform at their highest potential.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to formulate and deliver ideas and material in a clear and concise manner.Ability to overcome resistance to organizational change, influence others and lead change initiatives.Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines and production schedules.Ability and willingness to wear required PPE including but not limited to safety eyewear, hearing protection and safety toe footwear.Ability to work irregular and/or long hours including weekends and holidays as manufacturing schedule dictates.Knowledge of GMS and safety systems to ensure compliance.Strong mechanical aptitude with meticulous attention to details, strong organizational skills, and above-average troubleshooting skills. Associate degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, industrial management or related field desirable.Relevant industry certification is a plus.Working Conditions:Work performed primarily in heavy manufacturing environment. Office located within the production area of the facility requiring frequent walking in and around a non-climate-controlled metal manufacturing plant. Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust and fumes (rarely to the point of being objectionable). Extended periods of standing, walking and sitting may be required to meet production scheduling activities. Excellent hand-eye coordination. Occasional lifting, pushing or pulling 20 pounds, stooping, reaching, bending, and climbing in and around fabricated metal parts and manufacturing machinery and equipment.
