The Lead Project Engineer is a key role within the Offshore RenewablesBusiness, focusing on the delivery of large-scale offshore wind projectsin the US and overseas. Belonging to the Project Services/EngineeringManagement (EM) team and reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager orProject Services Director, the individual is responsible to manage thedesign process of an offshore wind project from origination throughfeasibility, concept, FEED (Front End Engineering Design), detaildesign, procurement, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, andhandover to operations. This role focuses on providing overall technicalcoordination, leading design assurance, ensuring compliance withindustry standards, meeting project requirements, and maximizing returnson investment throughout the project lifecycle. Throughout the projectstages of an offshore wind project, the role of the Engineering Managerevolves to adapt to the changing needs and priorities of each phase. Inthe early stages, during origination, the focus is on gathering data,identifying constraints, and assessing feasibility. This involvesanalysing site conditions, environmental factors, and regulatoryrequirements to determine the project?s viability. As the projectprogresses to the design development phase, the Engineering Managershifts their focus towards establishing the design basis, ensuring thatthe project?s engineering requirements are clearly defined and alignedwith industry standards and then establishes the basic configuration andlayout of the windfarm and transmission system. In the subsequent phaseof detailed design, the emphasis is on managing interfaces betweentechnical disciplines, coordinating the integration of variouscomponents, and refining the design to optimize performance andefficiency. However, during the execution phase, the focus transitionsto design assurance, where the Engineering Manager ensures that theproject is being manufactured and installed in accordance with theestablished design requirements and specifications. This involvestechnical reviews, verification and certification, inspection andtesting and resolving any technical issues that may arise duringconstruction and installation, ultimately ensuring the successfulrealization of the offshore wind project. The individual will be workingas part of a global business with activities in many locations acrossthe US and the rest of the world.
