Position Overview
Spec 1, Environmental Health and Safety
Requirements:
Education High School Bachelor's preffered- As the EHS Specialist II, you will prepare and/or assist in preparing policies and procedures in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
- You have knowledge in EHS Programs, including but not limited to, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Ergonomics, Training, Risk Assessment, and Emergency Response.
- Perform routine tasks with little instruction and supervision, and general instruction on new assignments. This position will work closely with both senior internal and external personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct EHS walk through frequently including documentation and follow-up as needed.
- Complete monthly EHS reports
- Support incident investigations including near miss events, compliance issues, work-related injuries and/or illnesses.
- Support site's Ergonomics Program. Act as liaison to associates and others receiving or requesting ergonomic evaluations.
- Provide guidance on EHS Training Programs.
- Review associate EHS Observations.
- Support the sites Hazardous Waste Program.
- Maintain working knowledge of local, State and Federal Regulations that apply to our operations including but not limited to Federal OSHA, EPA and California Health and Safety Code.
- Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of related experience working in a warehouse, distribution center, or biotech or medical device manufacturing environment with safety and/or environmental responsibilities.
- Experience working around hazardous waste programs strongly preferred.
- Familiar with DHS, OSHA, EPA, RCRA, Air Quality, and Water Pollution regulations, preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work and establish priorities.
- Effective customer service skills.
- Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Must be proficient working with PCs. Requires good command of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and the Internet.
