Staff Accountant

This is a customer facing role, interacting with Applause's top-tier Fortune 500 customers.

Essential Functions
  • Be the go to and internal partner for the sales organization
  • Review & approve sales contracts for accurate terms and entitlements ensuring complete and accurate billing of orders.
  • Manage and own customer testing access in Applause Platform.
  • Using NetSuite; Salesforce and Applause Platform to enter customer contract details with accuracy to drive invoicing, revenue recognition, and sales activity reporting
  • Prepare, and process timely and accurate customer invoices in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Research billing issues through reference to sales documentation, provide daily support to internal and external customers
  • Invoice verification and review pricing as well as preparation of required credit memo adjustments
  • Enter and post daily incoming customer cash receipts into NetSuite
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations resolving any variances in a timely manner (fixed assets, AR/Allowance, Deferred revenue, Accruals, etc)
  • Prepare journal entries on a monthly basis. Post journal entries to the general ledger using NetSuite accounting software
  • Check financial general ledger entries and financial reports for accuracy
  • Sales & Use Tax - monthly review of Avalara generated sales tax reports with escalation as necessary
  • Verify the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger by investigating variances, identifying and solving issues, and ensuring that transactions are accounted for in US GAAP
  • Partner with various business units in order to ensure financial accountability and provide analytics to drive business performance
  • Support Internal team with revenue recognition and deferred revenue reporting
  • Assist in the financial statement audit and completion of annual financial statements
  • Perform other duties as may be requested or required
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years accounting experience, preferably in a high-technology fast paced growth company
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business preferred but not necessary
  • General understanding and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting systems required. (NetSuite experience preferred)
  • Pro-active organized with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Good decision making and problem solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills (strong collaborator with employees and customers)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office with strong proficiency with excel
