Boston University Academy is seeking a part-time Learning Specialist serving students in grades 9-12. The position begins in August 2024. The Learning Specialist will work alongside a returning Learning Specialist and as part of a broader Student Support Team. It is likely a one-year role with a possibility of continuation. The primary responsibility will be meeting one-on-one to support students with executive functioning and a variety of learning styles. The Learning Specialist may also be involved in reviewing and processing psycho-educational testing; making recommendations to families about additional support (e.g. testing, tutoring, or outside professional support); maintaining the list of students with school-approved accommodations and sharing with faculty on a need-to-know basis; submitting and supporting applications to the College Board and other testing organizations for testing accommodations; working closely with teachers to determine student needs and offer advice about ways teachers can best support the students; leading professional development for faculty around learning disabilities and learning strategies. The Learning Specialist reports to the Associate Head of School.

In the eleventh and twelfth grades, students follow their passions by regularly completing up to twelve courses from Boston Universitys undergraduate curriculum. Required Skills
