Senior Project Engineer

to join our Scottish Power Energy Networks team.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be part of our diverse team responsible for the successful delivery of various projects and maintenance of the SPEN telecoms network across North West England. This role involves the strategic planning and delivery of installation & commissioning projects. Working alongside the field, project, and network operation teams, you will also provide technical representation at customer meetings, assist with critical faults, and complete end of job documentation to an excellent standard. This is on a Monday-Friday 0800-1600 basis, but applicants will be required to be flexible, assisting with overtime when required.

This role is based across North West, so you will need a full driving licence and may have to work away from home occasionally. Training is given to carry out your role and progression opportunities within our team are fully supported.

What will you be doing? Your role will be to support the Project Engineers and Senior Project Managers with scoping, preparing, planning, implementing, and delivering technical projects of varying scale, complexities, and technologies. This role fits within Magdalene's SPEN team and will work collaboratively with the Managed Services, Project Management, and Field Engineering teams.

What we need from you

Significant Project Engineer or Field-based experience.

SPEN Authorisations would be highly desirable.

Strong leadership and team working capabilities and the ability to oversee the work of other Project Engineers, including mentoring and skills development.

Relevant telecoms qualifications.

Ability to leverage and influence, show resolve under pressure from both customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring desired Technical & Project outcomes with adherence to design standards & principles.

Guide customer and project management technical conversations, provide technical advice, and ensure plans are achievable.

Implement new network technologies, perform system upgrades, monitor system performance and capacity, perform system backups and disaster recovery operations.

Experience in configuring, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting network and systems.

Install, configure, fault find, report and maintain routers, switches, and firewalls.

Must have core expertise in a number of the following areas:

IP Networking (CCNA, WAN, LAN, MPLS/ MPLS-TP)

Cisco ASR / ISR

Nokia SAR-H, Nokia NMF-P

Excellent knowledge of routing/switching and data networking.

Unified Communications (desirable).

Create and maintain technical documentation and ensure customer networks are documented as part of project handovers.

A strong set of IT skills which would include the Microsoft Office products, basic DOS commands, mobile phone work apps, and online time sheets.

Analytical skills and logical thinking to assist in fault diagnosis and resolution.

Experience in the following would be highly beneficial:

RAMS creation and work area/vehicle management.

Completion of site surveys to enable installation.

Performing Industry standard testing as required on telecoms and antenna systems e.g. BERT (E1 & Ethernet), RF sweeps, PIM, TDR, OTDR & OSCAR tests.

Data room, data centre and substation works.

General

Ensure all personal administration is kept up to date.

Carry out all work in accordance with the company quality procedures.
