Job Description
Duration: Scheduled until 6/30/2025 - Chance to extend full 18 months.
Location: HYBRID - Must be local to Redmond, WA. On site 3x a week.
Daily Schedule: 40 hours a week, Mon - Fri, Standard Core Business hours (some days starting at 7am PST due to meeting with team members in Europe and China), NO OT.
Pay: $70-$90 Hourly.
Typical Day in the Role
- Purpose of the Team: The purpose of this team is AI research team. Teach robots to do new skills. Software and hardware engineers integrate.
- Key projects: This role will contribute to supporting the researchers so they can do their job.
- Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 15% meetings, typically starting at 8am PST but occasionally 7am PST if meeting with team members in Europe or China. Collaboration with the team on machine learning, view new models, try it on the robots, writing code, integration, note how to improve.
- What makes this role interesting? - This role provides the opportunity to work with different robot companies, state of the art machines, top researchers, help develop machine code language models.
- Unique Selling Points: Working robots to do things like folding laundry, assembling engines.
- Minimum 2+ years experience with Linux
- Minimum 2+ years experience with Python
- Minimum 2+ years experience with Configuration management
Additional MUST HAVE Skills:
- 2+ years experience with ROS2
- 2+ years experience with TensorFlow
- 2+ years experience with machine learning packages
Our team seeks a Machine Learning Engineer to advance the development and improvement of our software foundation and tools vital for training state-of-the-art AI models. Your role will be centered on creating strong, scalable, and efficient training infrastructures and frameworks facilitating the full spectrum of the machine learning process, from handling data to deploying models. In collaboration with researchers and software engineers, you'll ensure that training systems are smoothly integrated and functioning, expanding the limits of AI's capabilities, especially in practical robotics scenarios. Additionally, you will investigate innovative methods to effectively utilize diverse datasets within our training framework.
Responsibilities
- Create and uphold efficient, scalable, and distributed training systems-including data preprocessing, training orchestration, and model assessment-for training large-scale AI models.
- Enhance the efficiency of training procedures to improve performance and use of resources, while maintaining scalability and dependability.
- Collaborate with researchers to create training and evaluation pipelines for state-of-the-art algorithms.
- Develop and design benchmarks for evaluating ML models.
- Perform training and fine-tuning of foundation models for robotic applications.
- Monitor and analyze pipelines, identifying bottlenecks and proposing solutions to improve efficiency and performance.
- Ensure the robustness and reliability of the training infrastructure, including automated testing and continuous integration.
This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in Redmond, Washington and some days remote.
