The Accounting Supervisor will lead the Accounts Payable and Payroll teams and oversee department processes. This is a hands-on position and in addition to day-to-day activities, responsibilities will include implementing process improvements, optimizing technology, and training and developing the team. This position will report to the Associate Director - Controller.

Primary Responsibilities

Oversee Accounts Payable:

* Provide daily supervision and support of A/P team (1 to 2 direct reports).* Lead and provide support for upcoming AP automation project.* Maintain proper internal controls.* Post vendor invoices and credit memos while reviewing all invoices for accuracy & appropriate documentation prior to payment.* Ensure all vendor data is accurately maintained in ERP.* Manage 1099 reporting.* Ensure accounting clerical duties such as filing and preparing various excel reports are completed timely.* Key contact for escalated or complex supplier & vendor concerns

Oversee Payroll:

* Provide daily supervision and support of payroll team (3 direct reports).* Ensure accurate and timely processing of all union and non-union payrolls.* Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.* Coordinate and provide tax registration and other information as needed to our Payroll Service Provider.* Administrator of Concur Expense Reporting System.* Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions.* Complete general ledger reconciliations for all payroll accounts.* Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate employee data is maintained.

Other:

* Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.* Other duties as required to support the AP and Payroll functions as well as the Accounting team.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Accounting or Finance* Combined five years of A/P & Payroll experience* High degree of knowledge regarding accounting software/ERP preferred; SAGE experience a big plus* Advanced Microsoft Office skills particularly with Excel* Proven manager with at least 2 - 3 years of experience in supervising/managing staff* Experience interfacing with individuals at all levels within an organization

Physical Location: Hybrid, Merrillville / Duneland Office
