Job Purpose

Directs the Finance Department for all TRM financial reporting requirements, both internal and external. The position also directs the Payroll, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and Purchasing functions. Responsible for developing and implementing accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements long and short-range plans, strategies, and policies that support TRM's financial strategy in alignment with its mission, vision, values, and objectives.
  • Provides strategic consultation on financial matters to others, i.e., the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Senior Leadership Team, etc.
  • Directs the annual budgeting process and provides regular financial forecasts to guide decision-making.
  • Prepares accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses and presents information to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other key partners to support awareness and decision-making.
  • Oversees grant budgeting, reporting, compliance, and proposals to support the acquisition of funding from donors, government agencies, etc.
  • Manages the organization's cash flow to support the organization's financial stability including investment strategies.
  • Oversees the organization's annual financial audits, maintains compliance with regulatory requirements, and ensures adherence to accounting best practices.
  • Effectively partners with TRM's outside CPA firm and other business partners.
  • Anticipates significant changes, trends, and regulations related to financial systems, processes, and controls and institutes improvements to enhance the organization's efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identifies financial risks and communicates and implements appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborates with others, i.e., Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other departments to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Serves on the senior leadership team and other committees; collaborating to achieve organization-wide goals and objectives.
  • Supervises personnel, e.g., providing coaching and consultation on adaptive and technical matters, strategic opportunities, career goals, professional development, job performance, etc., fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
Working Conditions

Office environment with some travel between TRM sites and locations in the community; may be required to be outdoors in inclement weather and work irregular hours in order to properly observe, capture, and tell the story of TRM's work.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, related field.
  • Five years related experience or the equivalent combination of education & financial management experience, ideally in a non-profit organization.
  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and grant management.
  • Proven experience in financial strategy development and execution.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, Sage 100, Sage Fixed Assets, etc.). and other office software programs.
  • Uses creativity and wisdom to anticipate and plan for the future.
  • Access to a vehicle for frequent travel throughout Pierce County and TRM locations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment using effective, thoughtful interactions and communication.
Physical Requirements
  • Stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Frequently positions self to maintain files in file cabinets.
  • Communicates information and ideas so others will understand. Exchanges accurate information in these situations.
  • Observes details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds across office for various needs.
