Our Surveillance and Optics Mechanical Systems (SOMS) organization at Raytheon provides the joint warfighter with actionable information from an unblinking eye across the battlespace. By joining our SOMS Engineering team you will have the opportunity to design, test, and deliver product capabilities for precision EO/IR systems which provide situational awareness and a tactical advantage for our customers.

As a Senior Principal Optomechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for leading efforts to produce cutting-edge components for our programs. This individual will be focused on hardware design and documentation, system build and integration, and delivery of high-quality hardware to the warfighter. The position is directly tied to development and delivery of precision EO/IR hardware designs under the guidance of the Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) and the Program Chief Engineer in McKinney, Texas.

Qualifications you must have:

Prior work experience with Optomechanical design and development

Hands-on experience with EO/IR hardware build and test experience

Prior work experience with 3D hardware modeling and design execution utilizing PTC Creo software.

Solving technical challenges to meet budget and schedule allocations

Mechanical design processes knowledge.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Excellent communication skills

Required Education:

Typically requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a related field and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

U.S. Citizenship required as the applicant must have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance within the first year after start date

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
