Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Development Manager, Grants & Foundations will play a key role in achieving the financial goals of the Alzheimer's Association. As a staff member of a comprehensive development program, the responsibilities of the Development Officer include writing foundation grant proposals and Development/Chapter materials, managing relationships, researching potential funding sources, reporting and developing concept ideas.

In addition, this staff member manages the Government Grants duties for the Chapter/Region, as well as working with the Executive Directors in the Region to secure grants in their states.

Responsibilities

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Working closely with input from program/development staff colleagues, write and submit grant proposals.

Work with major gift colleagues to develop proposals and provide periodic reports.

Maintain electronic and paper records on foundation proposals. Track foundation activity and interactions.

Utilizing online and other resources, research potential funding sources.

Manage relationships with foundations. Cultivate and steward funders and potential funders.

Track, write and submit all reports as required by funders.

Working collaboratively with CEO, VP for Development and program and development staff, develop concept ideas.

As a member of the Development team, research and follow up on donor inquiries and concerns.

Serve as a resource for volunteer leadership.

Collaborate with the National Alzheimer's Association staff on shared fundraising efforts, Government Grants and comply with Association policies, procedures and standards.

Collaborate with other staff and departments of the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts/New Hampshire Chapter and other Region 11 Chapters to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

Perform other duties as assigned by Vice President of Development.

Assist other members of the Development department with sponsorship or grant applications.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum five years related experience, with proven success in foundation relations and/or grant writing.

Prior experience with state and federal grants preferred.

Some experience with proposal writing preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Familiarity with and ability to navigate fundraising software and donor database applications.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to support and articulately promote the mission of the Alzheimer's Association.

Ability to effectively work with diverse populations.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, while adhering to deadlines. Strong time management skills are essential.

Strong and sound decision making skills and good professional judgment.

Ability to anticipate, analyze and take advantage of growth opportunities.

Occasional evening and weekend work required, as well as ability to travel by personal automobile to meetings.

High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative.
