Benefits Link GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Anesthesia Manager, the Certified Anesthesia Tech is certified through the American Society of Anesthesia Technologist and Technicians (ASATT). They assist staff Anesthesiologists and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists in performing the most technical and clinical of anesthesia preparations for procedures in all anesthetizing locations. The certified member of the Anesthesia care team demonstrates problem-solving skills, supports employee engagement initiatives, and maintains trusting, credible, and professional behavior with all members of the Anesthesia care team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Anesthesiologist/CRNA with intra-operative patient care and troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment. Perform all duties of the Anesthesia Technician during turnover between cases. Ensure that the anesthesia carts, machines, cabinets, and workroom(s) are stocked and organized. Maintain a physical presence in designated perioperative areas to assist anesthesiologists/CRNAs. Assist with Joint Commission preparation by maintaining and discarding outdated supplies. Maintain inventory of supplies and provide weekly reports to Manager. Demonstrate knowledge of operating and troubleshooting problems with anesthesia equipment. Transport blood products and blood samples for laboratory analysis. Check all monitoring equipment daily. Be available to assist in difficult airways and other emergent situations. Ensure anesthetizing locations have necessary monitors, medications, equipment, and supplies. Promptly respond to emergency situations. Monitor the operating room schedule for prompt turnover and setup. Champion Point of Care (POC) equipment and training. Clean and maintain all anesthesia equipment according to infection control requirements. Adhere to all safety and infection control policies. Check anesthetizing locations for adequate supplies and drugs. Coordinate with respiratory therapy for collection of empty oxygen tanks. Demonstrate effective verbal communication skills. Perform related duties as requested by manager. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Work requires a high school diploma and

seven years of work experience

as an anesthesia technician. Knowledge of medical terminology typically acquired through a college-level anatomy and physiology course. Knowledge of Anesthesia Equipment:

Understands the design, setup/calibration, testing, operation, and troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment. Skills: ANESTHESIA EQUIPMENT: Appropriately connects breathing circuits, gas sampling lines, and filters. ANESTHESIA SUPPLIES: Can stock and organize anesthesia-related supplies. AIRWAY MANAGEMENT: Assists in airway management using current algorithms. INTRAOPERATIVE MONITORING: Able to set up and calibrate monitors. INFECTION CONTROL: Utilizes approved techniques for decontamination. BLOOD PRODUCT ADMINISTRATION: Understands the process for obtaining blood products. Certification Requirements:

ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T) certification is required. Must maintain ASATT Certification. BLS for Cer.A.T, ACLS for Cer.A.T.T within 3 months of hire. PALS preferred. HOURS:
