SequLITE Genomics (a subsidiary of Fapon Biotech) is a growing life science company developing an NGS platform to enable sequencing for everyone. We are seeking an enthusiastic engineer to join our Next Generation Sequencer Development team as a Senior or Staff Mechanical Engineer. The ideal candidate for this position will be a creative, proactive, and highly collaborative development engineer with profound knowledge and extended experience in platform development and mechanical design for Next Generation Sequencing instruments. In this role, you will work on designing, prototyping, building and maintaining various fluidic and mechanical systems/structures and be responsible for working with biochemistry and other Engineering teams to define key parameters for system-level operation. You will participate in technical breakthroughs of a versatile fluidic system and validation tasks of its performance and technical reliability. Hands-on experience using mechanical and thermal simulation tools and related programs is an advantage. Responsibilities Perform various mechanical and fluidic research to ensure technical validity and performance. Design, prototype and build key consumable parts and instrumental interface. Develop thermal cycling modules and mechanical clamping mechanisms for part integration. Work with other teams to define key design parameters for system-level development. Participate in the technical breakthroughs of the various system modules and their integration. Work with manufacturing vendors for efficient development process. Help make strategic planning and implementation of nanopore sequencing, including development path research, pre-research, top-level design, and layout of the nanopore sequencing technologies. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: BS/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related fields with 5+ years of hands-on experience on mechanical, thermal, and/or fluidic aspects of biomedical with R&D technical teams. Excellent problem-solving techniques in experimental and analytical work. Proficient with SolidWorks CAD design and Finite Element Analysis. Comfortable with running and programming LabView and/or Python codes. Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders. Experience with quick prototyping techniques including 3D printing, micromachining, laser-cutting, laser-molding and injection molded parts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields with 2+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical, thermal, and/or fluidic aspects of biomedical with R&D technical teams sequencer. In-depth knowledge of next-generation sequencing technology. Familiar with core Product Development procedures such as critical parameter management, P-diagram, and FMEA. Experienced in building testbeds, mechanical/fluidic breadboards and beta prototypes. Experience with force/torque measurement with Mark10. Experience in film seal and puncture in cartridges. Experience in JMP or other data analysis software. Great relationships and successful engagement with key development and manufacturing vendors.
