We are searching for the next local marketing leader for our high growth New Mexico market. The Marketing Director - New Mexico will regularly interact with team members locally, regionally and nationally. This position blends an entrepreneurial approach with national resources and campaigns in a highly matrixed environment. The position will be hands-on will all aspects of campaign development and execution.

As part of the care delivery arm of Optum, the Marketing Director - New Mexico is responsible for developing and executing integrated multi-channel marketing campaigns to help drive patient volumes for Optum - New Mexico, in partnership with the Optum centralized marketing team, regional marketing colleagues and local market leadership. This position is a very visible and important part of the local market leadership team.

This position will regularly interact and collaborate with in-market executive level leadership and should have a strong executive presence as well as be able to concisely report out on quantitative marketing results to an executive audience.

This position blends strategic thinking with hands-on tactical execution. Prioritization and time management will be critical to develop and execute marketing strategies to drive patient lead generation for 130 employed healthcare providers across 13 Optum Primary Care branded locations as well as drive leads to partnering Medicare Advantage plans throughout the year. This role will be involved in developing market strategies that help drive brand awareness, employee engagement, provider recruitment / retention, broker engagement, as well as strategies to support marketing innovation and combat competitive pressures.

With an entrepreneurial spirit, the position will lead all local execution of national advertising campaigns, locally developed marketing initiatives, local event marketing, public relations and community partnership initiatives for the market. The position will not have a direct report, but will be supported by a regional marketing specialist, internal national creative team, and a local advertising agency.

The position is hybrid (60% in office / 40% remote) and based within commuting distance of the Optum office in Albuquerque, NM. Travel requirements will typically consist of visiting clinics and attending events and health fairs in within a 30-mile radius of Albuquerque. May also include 3-5 day or overnight trips to neighboring states/markets in the southwestern US. Overall travel anticipated to be 15% or less and overnight travel anticipated to be 5% or less.

The position will report to the Director of Marketing - Arizona & New Mexico.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and execute local marketing and patient lead generation efforts for owned clinics and employed providers in alignment with business goals and applicable audiences

Lead local public relations for the market working with public relations agency and national communications partners to localize nationally produced concepts as well as develop market-specific story ideas. Develop and maintain relationships with physicians and care team members through regular interaction and

clinic visits to match local providers with public relations opportunities on a regular basis.

Work with the regional and local broker relations team members to activate broker relations initiatives throughout the year including appreciation events, education sessions and newsletters

Provide executive-level report outs on marketing initiatives including spend against budget

Execute against existing national and regional marketing plans and participate in the annual creation of local marketing plans

Develop co-promotion opportunities with market-specific independent physician association (IPA) and partner health plans to support growth of Medicare Advantage membership

Develop retention-focused marketing initiatives targeting existing members / patients, focusing on appointment setting, completion of annual wellness visits, closure of gaps in care

Cultivate relationships with applicable internal business partners to drive support, understanding and collaboration on growth and marketing efforts

Ensure that marketing activities and materials comply with CMS regulations and UnitedHealth Group standards

7+ years of professional full-time experience in a matrix environment preferably in roles related to marketing, advertising, communications, or growth / sales

5+ years of direct-to-consumer marketing experience in a hands-on, tactical role

5+ years of experience in deadline-driven marketing role in a matrixed environment

5+ years of experience managing multiple priorities and cross functional interactions with teams including but not limited to creative services, compliance, and operations

5+ years of experience prioritization and time management in a high-volume, low-headcount environment

5+ years of experience in developing and executing, ROI focused marketing programs or campaigns

3+ years of experience managing a team of 1-3 direct reports

3+ years of experience in aligning with sales, agents or broker teams

3+ years of experience in marketing communications, internal, external or public relations

3+ years of experience reporting campaign performance to an executive audience

3+ year of experience developing relationships with a combination of agents, providers, leadership teams and internal stakeholders

Able and willing to work a hybrid schedule; the position is 60% in office / 40% remote and based within commuting distance of the Optum office in Albuquerque, NM.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advertising, marketing, sales or growth experience in a health care or insurance setting

Experience working directly with agents, brokers and physicians

Experience with B2B, B2C and B2B2C campaign management
