Director / Sr. Director, Commercial Procurement

The Director/Sr. Director of Commercial Procurement is a leadership position responsible for leading and overseeing the strategic direction, execution, and optimization of all procurement activities related to marketing goods and services. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, operational expertise, and leadership skills to drive procurement initiatives that support the organization's marketing objectives while maximizing value and minimizing costs. The Director/Sr. of Commercial Procurement collaborates closely with executive leadership, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders to develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company's overall goals and objectives.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and communicate the strategic vision, goals, and objectives for the marketing procurement function, aligning with the organization's overall mission and strategic priorities.
Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive procurement strategies for marketing-related categories, including advertising, media buying, creative services, events, and promotional items.
Provide strategic guidance and direction to procurement team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning within the procurement team, encouraging innovation and excellence in performance.
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strategic relationships with key internal stakeholders, including marketing leadership, finance, legal, and other departments, to understand their business needs and requirements.
Cultivate strong partnerships with external vendors and suppliers, leveraging these relationships to drive value, innovation, and competitive advantage.
Serve as the primary point of contact for senior leadership on procurement-related matters, providing regular updates, insights, and recommendations.
Procurement Excellence:
Establish and enforce best practices, policies, and procedures for the marketing procurement function, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and corporate governance.
Lead procurement initiatives to optimize costs, improve efficiency, and drive value across the marketing supply chain, while maintaining high-quality standards and mitigating risks.
Oversee the negotiation of complex contracts, pricing agreements, and service level agreements (SLAs) with vendors to achieve favorable terms and maximize ROI.
Performance Management:
Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of marketing procurement activities.
Monitor and analyze procurement performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, and take corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Master's degree or MBA preferred.
Minimum of 12 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with significant experience in marketing procurement roles.
Proven track record of success in leadership positions, with demonstrated ability to develop and execute procurement strategies that drive business results.
Strong negotiation skills and experience negotiating complex contracts and agreements with vendors and suppliers.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business goals into actionable procurement plans and initiatives.
Deep understanding of procurement best practices, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
Requirements:
Position will be expected to report to either the Waltham or Conshohocken Madrigal offices on a hybrid basis.
Travel requirements up to 10-20%. Based on business needs
Compensation:
Base salary is determined by several factors that include, but are not limited to, a successful candidate's qualifications, skills, education, experience, business needs, and market demands. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits, which include flexible paid time off (PTO), medical, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance.
