Description

Summary

The IT Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst's role is to establish measurable quality assurance standards, for the information technology services within the organization. This individual will gather and analyze data in support of business cases, write and create test scripts, track defects and associated fixes in support of service requests, proposed projects and operational system updates. This position will also apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing to maximize the benefit of CU investments in IT initiatives.

Essential Functions

20% 1. QA Standards - Develop and establish measurable quality assurance standards for testing new applications, products and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles. This will include analyzing data & processes to determine appropriate test case scenarios and testing volume to ensure all existing and new functionality requirements are met.

20% 2. Base Functionality Testing - Ensure that testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and system goals, fulfill end-user requirements and identify existing or potential issues and all compliance and technical specifications are met. Work with internal &/or vendor technical staff to resolve any major issues before moving to UAT.

20% 3. User Acceptance Testing (UAT) -Collaborate with IT, end-users and/or vendors in application testing such as system, unit, regression, load and acceptance testing methods. Create and/or execute test scripts for end-users that ensure the application meets systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements and identify existing or potential issues. Provide guidance and resources for end-users throughout testing to ensure processes are clear and deadlines are met.

20% 4. Issue Resolutions - Analyze formal test results from end-users to identify any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues and interoperability flaws. Report issues to internal and/or vendor technical staff to facilitate resolutions. Communicate test progress, results and other relevant information to project stakeholders including vendor, FFCU departments and/or senior mgmt.

10% 5. Analyze New Requests - Collaborate with vendors and FFCU management in assessing new applications under consideration for purchase, upgrade, or customization. Analyze documentation and technical specifications of application under consideration to determine its intended functionality and estimate testing effort requirements.

5% 6. Participate in other tasks related to FFCU projects, service requests or operational activities as directed by the CIO or IT Applications Manager.

Non Essential Functions

5% 1. Perform any other duties as requested by the CIO, IT Applications Manager, or other IT Team Members. Embody CU's mission, vision, and core values. Abide by FFCU policies, procedures and standards.

Expectations

  1. Perform duties assigned within timeframes and quality standards established by the CIO and IT Applications Manager.
  2. Possess the ability to work independently within deadlines and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  3. Must demonstrate good analytical/problem solving, verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Must be able to multi-task and be a team player and have good time management and prioritization skills.
  5. Occasional after-hours and weekend, and overnight travel work may be required.


Requirements

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in related technical or business area or 4 years directly related experience.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years' experience as an IT Quality Assurance Analyst or 2 years' experience in a FFCU role utilizing information systems such as Symitar.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of system testing best practices and methodologies
  • Direct hands-on experience with ad hoc query programs, automated testing tools, and reporting software
  • Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities
  • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures
  • Excellent PC skills and familiarity with programming languages and/or concepts
