**As a Lifeguard on the Aquatics team, you will be part of an exciting team of people opening a brand-new community waterpark in central Austin.** **At Shalom Austin we positively impact peoples lives** **through the services and facilities we offer.** **As a lifeguard at Shalom Austin it is your responsibility to keep the aquatics facility safe, inviting, and clean. It is also your responsibility to provide excellent customer service and quality water safety programming. Through your comment to excellence, we can continue to build our community around us. This is a part-time position beginning in January 2022 once the pool has completed construction.** * Responsible for the safety of pool patrons by preventing accidents and responding quickly to emergency situations.

* Must follow and enforce pool policies and rules at all times.

* Prevent injuries and minimize hazardous situations.

* Always provides safety surveillance, including while walking around the facility.

* Attend mandatory training and in-service meetings required by Shalom Austin.

* Maintains life safety and rescue skills at rescue-ready levels over the duration of employment.

* Comply with all Shalom Austin policies and procedures.

* Open and close aquatic facility at appropriate times.

* Arrive to work every day, on time, as scheduled.

* Completes routine maintenance and assigned cleaning duties.

* Maintains inventories and care for Shalom Austin property and equipment. Keeps supervisor informed of necessary materials and supplies for daily operations and to conduct programs.

* Demonstrates cooperative behavior with team, supervisors, and fellow employees.

* Provide positive and enthusiastic customer service to all members and guests.

* Monitors and records safety checks in compliance with Shalom Austin, State, and local guidelines

* Sets up equipment for scheduled recreational activities and events.

* May involve cash handling.

* May give direction to program volunteers on specific activities or projects.

* Instruct various ages in swimming, water safety, and other aquatic programming.

* Leads, teaches, demonstrates, and officiates recreational activities for a variety of age groups.

* Assists in ensuring the delivery of high-quality and consistent aquatic programs and services to the community.

* Cleans program areas after completion of activities and at end of workday.

* Complete other duties as assigned.

* Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age; and one (1) year customer service/public service experience required, with aquatic facility experience preferred.

* Must possess or obtain before beginning work: American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid certification, Waterpark certification, CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer certification, and Administering Emergency Oxygen certification.

* Positive attitude and self-motivated.

* Works well collaboratively in a team environment.

* Pass all required criminal history background checks (which may, depending on the position you are hired for, include an FBI fingerprint check)

* Adhere to our Mission, Core Values, and all HR policies and procedures

* Work is performed in all-weather conditions, with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals, wet surfaces, pool maintenance equipment, infectious diseases and blood borne pathogens.

* Work outdoors in all types of weather and/or inclement conditions, and at times in confined spaces.

* May be required to work immediately before, during or after an emergency or disaster.

* Well pay you an hourly salary of $13-$14.25 depending on experience and ability.
