Staff Accountant

Celebrating 20 years since first opening its doors in London, Zuma is sophisticated twist on the traditional Japanese Izakaya style of informal eating and drinking. Co-founded by Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney in 2002, Zuma has 15 venues globally and 9 seasonal locations.
Featuring modern Japanese cuisine that is authentic but not traditional. The menu showcases a variety of dishes from its three kitchens: the main kitchen, the sushi counter and the robata grill.
**This position is fully onsite based in our Vegas office inside Cosmopolitan Hotel**
JOB SUMMARY:
Staff Accountant plays a pivotal role in managing the fundamental aspects of the restaurant's financial recordkeeping. Your responsibilities will include recording financial transactions, managing accounts payables and receivables, reconciling bank statements, and providing leadership for the organization's financial functions.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare daily and weekly financial reports accurately and in a timely manner
- Manage accounts payables and receivables, ensuring timely payments and collections
- Identify and rectify any discrepancies or errors on POS reports promptly
- Review and reconcile petty cash, voids, and promotional reports meticulously
- Handle bank deposits and meticulously reconcile credit card statements
- Raise purchase orders for operational expenditures within allocated budgets and place orders online once purchase orders are approved by department head
- Effectively manage gift card issuance and ensure accurate reconciliation
- Attend HOD meetings and deliver comprehensive presentations on weekly operational financials
- Effectively handle chargebacks with credit card companies in accordance with company policies
- Coordinate seamlessly with outsourced accounting firms to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Provide expert accounting support to other Zuma locations as required, maintaining consistency and accuracy
- Offer informed insights and advice to management on financial trends, budget variances, and pertinent issues
- Collaborate effectively in audit activities, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial reporting
- Uphold the highest standards of accuracy and compliance in financial statements, adhering to GAAP and internal policies
- Operate ethically to protect the image of the company
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested
- 1-3 years of experience in accounting in restaurant industry
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- Strong knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Excel
- Knowledge of GAAP and federal and state financial regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software and performing cash reconciliation, bank deposits, and check handling
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with team members and stakeholders
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Prior experience in the hospitality industry is a plus but not required
