Job Description

Job Summary

Provides production and ad-hoc reporting and data analysis support for the Wholesale credit risk organization regarding exceptions, credit underwriting, servicing, portfolio, and Wholesale credit risk performance metrics. Designs new reporting and conducts modifications to existing reporting as needed. Serves as a resource for various organizational projects and activities. Develops reporting analytics on various topics under direction of team leadership.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with leadership, applicable line-of-business partners and team members to provide consistent and accurate reporting at varying levels of granularity including exceptions, risk migration, portfolio and loan level credit metrics. Prepares and delivers ad-hoc assignments as assigned within established timeframes. Works with Wholesale credit risk teams to establish requirements, delivering draft results, fielding questions and change requests, and preparing revised results. Serves as primary lead on exception reporting and insights.
  • Manages modification of existing reporting in collaboration with management. Provides continual process improvement with automation and data/model-based emphasis on assessment, monitoring, control and reporting methods. Recommends, develops and implements effective data collection and reporting tools that keep Wholesale leadership and credit risk team members informed regarding key aspects and attributes of underwriting and servicing performance and credit risk process execution.
  • Conducts analytics related to production reporting as needed, which may require data mining and statistical analysis techniques, to build recommendations for business line management with regard to credit risk operating model. Analyzes, advocates and implements appropriate refinement of reporting views to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of presentation to achieve credit risk objectives.
  • Documents Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of production reports and processes ensuring completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of data sources and extracts. Keeps SOPs current through periodic updates and reviews.
  • Keeps management informed regarding workload based on current pipeline and anticipated volume levels. Exhibits and promotes timely and effective communication of issues. Acts as a liaison between credit risk team members and other bank groups and vendors to jointly identify and resolve data and reporting operational issues.
  • Develops and maintains tracking systems related to policy exceptions, covenants, borrowing bases, analytical work, and other items as identified as the bank executes long-term automation opportunities. Works with Market Intelligence team internally to develop best practices for incorporating market scores and sector views into applicable reporting. Activities may include development of executive reports that use business intelligence databases. Participates in design and execution of deliverables on reporting and analytics projects.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Mathematics, Science, Statistics, MIS or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience:
  • Five years experience with querying and analyzing large data sets.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Understanding of commercial loan process through lending, portfolio management, or credit experience with demonstrated ability to apply loan work flow and credit risk knowledge and expertise to perform reporting and exceptions related duties
  • Knowledge and understanding of various analytical tools to support reporting, which would include the Microsoft Office product suite and other applicable software and systems
  • Solid knowledge of banking industry concepts, terms, and products
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong bias toward data integrity and presentation accuracy
  • Proficiency using office software products
