The Certified Personal Trainer will provide excellent programming, exercise instruction in a variety of health/fitness formats and appropriate coaching. Under the director of the Assistant Director of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation, this position will promote Babson's mission to advance healthy lifestyle choices through participation opportunities, educational experiences & supportive services. The Certified Personal Trainer will serve as a fitness resource for program participants and all Recreation Members to encourage continued class attendance and involvement in Babson wellness initiatives. Individuals holding this position must be able to develop, document, and implement one-on-one, partner or group workout programs that match client needs. This person will have knowledge of all fitness floor policies and be able to communicate to a diverse group of patrons.
WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop, document, and implement one-on-one, partner, and group workouts programs that match the goals and needs of the client
  • Ensures a safe and healthy environment for exercising including that class areas are clean and set according to best practices, assisting patrons and clients via spotting, answering questions on exercise and technique, and providing demonstrations on the fitness equipment
  • Gathers information on clients' fitness expectations and provides guidance t help them reach their goals
  • Responsible for dressing appropriately and arriving to training sessions in advance of the scheduled time to set up area, greet clients, and review equipment
  • Begins and ends all sessions on time
  • Responsible for reporting any equipment/facility problems to the management team
  • Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of Babson College. Represents the Athletic Department in the Babson Community and help ensure a positive experience for all users of the facility
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and professional development courses
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required
WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
  • Certification through ACE, NASM, or other approved nationally accredited organization
  • Extensive knowledge of exercise physiology and kinesiology, safe training procedures, exercise program implementation and the proper use of cardiovascular, resistance, free weight and related fitness equipment. Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury
  • Possess a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment
  • This seasonal/intermittent position is contingent upon continued satisfactory performance and a continued need for skills/courses
  • Must be well organized and able to maintain client confidentiality at all times
  • Envisions and proposes new methods to perform tasks that support ET&A; takes thoughtful risks; and accepts new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results
  • Anticipates and embraces change; demonstrates willingness to achieve, acquire, and utilize new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions


HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK

May be required to work some nights, weekends, and holidays

Normal work hours may include nights and weekends

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

College degree in physical education or related field preferred.
