Description Position Summary The Accounting Manager is responsible for all areas relating to accounting, and business and financial reporting. This includes, but is not limited to, oversight of general accounting, business and financial reporting, accurate and timely financial statement production, tax administration and filing (sales, use, income, etc.), business licensing, risk management and insurance, 401k management. This position will be hybrid and also responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure all key activities are performed effectively. Key Responsibilities Manages direct and indirect reports to build a high performing team. Assigns and allocates work, sets priorities and deadlines. Resolves personnel issues, guides, and advises personnel in the performance of their work. Completes performance evaluations and makes recommendations on wages and promotions. Mentors team members to gain new skills and take them to new levels of skill and performance. Creates and updates all policies and procedures required to effectively manage all areas of responsibility. Manages and/or administers all major accounting and finance functions and ensures quality and correctness of those activities and all outputs. Produces all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and financial reports. Carefully maintains and updates all financial planning models. Lead Annual Budget and Monthly forecasting planning processes, as well as achievement of Budget and Quarterly Forecast goals. Establishes and communicates the process including required outputs and timelines. Provides financial expertise during the business/budget planning process. Ensures individual functional plans/assumptions are communicated/coordinated between departments/functional areas. Administers key processes for board meetings by directly managing: Schedule for preparation meeting and content review meetings Board meeting calendar and scheduling of all participants Logistics for meetings Creation of financial statistics and slides Analysis of budget variances Collation of all data, slides, and documents for meetings Note taking and record keeping Administers company ownership balances, distributions, and notifications. Directs department close goals and timelines. Analyzes balance sheet and income statements and actual versus budget or forecast reports, includes detailed review of variances. Provides management with monthly and year to date Financials upon completion. Responsible for monitoring disbursements in accounts payable and payroll. Signs and reviews weekly check runs, ACH payments and wire transfers. Monitors AR Collections and past due account activity. Assists AR clerk in escalated issues. Responsible for reviewing the fixed asset and inventory systems and accounting for acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation/loss unit expense. Prepares reports on inventory balances, write offs and significant adjustments. Responsible for monitoring the correct posting of cash to the accounting system and the proper deposits of monies into bank accounts. Review and approves general ledger reconciliations and analysis of variances. Responsible for monitoring compliance with expense reporting practices and debt covenants. Prepares and or approves journal entries. Monitors and approves account reconciliations. Reviews trial balance at month end. Coordinates audits and satisfies auditor requirements. Prepares Federal and State tax filings in coordination with our external accounting firm and ensures compliance for all relevant tax jurisdictions. Partner with Sales and HR on the design and development of RSM Sales compensation systems. Deliver accurate, timely commission calculations for payment processing by Payroll/Accountant. Coordinate annual renewal of business insurance policies. Responsible for business registration and licensing in all required jurisdictions. Oversee 401(k) plan administration. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Experience / Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with a minimum of seven years accounting or finance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong PC skills including Excel. Knowledge in medical field is a plus. Strong working knowledge of GAAP. Public accounting firm audit experience is a plus. Must have excellent attention to detail. Must have the ability to lead and coach others as well as the ability to facilitate and negotiate. Must have strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Strong presentation skills. Must possess the ability to organize and prioritize work while meeting deadlines. Must be able to lead and manage projects effectively. Ability to work with others from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures and at all levels within the organization. Physical Requirements General office environment that will include frequent or continuous periods of talking, sitting, fingering, repetitive motions of the hands/wrists, reaching, grasping, and handling. This position also requires occasional bending, squatting, standing, and walking. Pushing, pulling lifting, and carrying of up to 10 lbs. is required on an occasional basis.
