About the Role
The Chief Financial Officer is a key leadership role with a primary focus on supervisory, administrative, and fiscal control work. The CFO also supervises a team of professional, technical, and clerical staff, ensuring compliance with accounting practices, fiscal regulations, and the policies of the educational and governmental entities.Candidates for the CFO position must have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, with a minimum of five years of professional experience in financial operations. A Master's degree is preferred. The role requires a deep understanding of accounting and auditing principles, as well as knowledge of federal, state, and local laws related to fiscal operations. The CFO must be able to develop and administer budgets, maintain standard accounting measures, and effectively invest school funds. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills are essential, as is the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. The CFO is also expected to stay current with trends in the field through professional development activities.
