Description

Job Description - Marketplace Sales Associate

Classification: Non-exempt

Reports to: Marketplace Manager

The primary function of this position is to contribute to the efficient operation of the Marketplace and ensure customers have a positive shopping experience.

An individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Customer service: Assist customers in finding products, answer questions about our inventory, and provide excellent customer service.
• Stocking shelves: Keep shelves neat, well-organized, and maintain proper inventory levels.
• Curbside service: Load customer orders into their vehicles with a smile.
• Cashier duties: Operate a cash register efficiently and accurately, process customer payments, and handle returns.
• Bagging groceries: Pack customer groceries in a neat and organized manner.
• Maintaining store cleanliness: Keep the shopping floor clean and free of debris, spills, and hazards.
• Additional tasks: Perform other duties as assigned by the store manager, which may include assisting with unloading deliveries, taking inventory, or completing administrative tasks.

Qualifications

Education/Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety requirements
• Familiarity with working at a register (i.e., money handling) a plus.
• Retail experience a plus

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and helpful demeanor.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Available to work flexible hours, including weekends, evening and holidays
• Detail-oriented and organized

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to move around freely in varied indoor and outdoor environments.
• Normal visual acuity.
• Good hearing and oral communication skills.
• Manual dexterity and ability to use a keyboard and mouse comfortably.
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
• Periodically will lift, push, pull and move products weighing up to 55lbs. unassisted
• Frequently reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets
• Constantly stand, walk, and move products quickly during the shift

General Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must successfully pass a controlled substance screening test and background check.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must adhere to all safety practices and company policies.

Hourly Pay: $15

Work Environment

The Marketplace is a fast-paced and dynamic environment. A Marketplace Sales Associate will work on their feet throughout the shift, working collaboratively with teammates in a friendly and professional atmosphere. We value teamwork and helping each other out to ensure a smooth operation and exceptional customer service. The work can be physically demanding at times, requiring lifting, bending, and reaching.

The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, occasionally working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and hand carts. Walking and working on concrete flooring. Duties will require working in varying climates. Temperatures range from below zero in the freezers to 95F degrees or above outdoors.
