1. Technical Responsibilities

Responsible for:

Reviewing User Requirement Specifications (URS). Generating URS responses to document exclusions and clarifications.
Identifying technical touch points. Evaluate each risk to determine mitigation strategy.
Performing and documenting tolerance analysis to ensure positional requirements are achievable.
Defining throughput rates for system, station, and processes to achieve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) requirements. This may include uptime, and yield analysis to define and communicate critical design requirements.
Generating a timing diagram to determine if proposed motion sequences and interactions meet cycle rate requirements.
Defining CAD file structure.
Ensuring engineering documentation and traceability align with and meet GAMP requirements.
Defining requirements for Major Purchased Components (MPC's), identifying potential suppliers, requesting and reviewing proposals, and selecting supplier.
Ensuring mechanical engineering standards are defined, understood, and implemented correctly.
Defining process map, automation sequences, and individual technologies required to achieve project goals.
Identifying the need and defining requirements for finite element analysis including mechanical loads, frequency, thermal, and fluid flow.
Documenting engineering calculations used to define and meet design and safety requirements.
Performing Proof of Principal testing to understand limits, risks, and viability of design elements.

Participates in:

Participate as technical expert on Quotation Prep Team
Reviewing and determining completeness of customer specification and drawings
Determining if industry standards have conflicting requirements. Identify required training.
Estimating design and engineering hours used in proposal.
Identifying critical components. Planning mitigation steps to prevent delays.
Coordinating efforts to identify and prioritize long lead time items.
Working with project managers to define execution plan (PMEP)
Working with project managers to prioritize tasks and define resource requirements to maintain project schedule.
Working with documentation coordinator and client to prepare GAMP documentation requirements.
Ensuring design verification checklist information is complete per GAMP requirements.
Defining processes, automation sequences, devices, and components required to achieve customer requirements. Communicate requirements with Controls Engineering team.
Developing and iterating Concept CAD Model to define and communicate overall footprint, ranges of motion, physical space, and operator interface.
Creating and maintaining CAD assembly model and structure to define mechanical definition of automated machinery. Ensuring form, fit, function, and methodologies meet requirements.
Receiving and documenting customer floor layout requirements including utility locations, walkways, entrances, and other items that affect installation at customer site.
Working with Controls to define guarding requirements and safety devices to meet requirements for operator access and safety.
Creating Safety Risk Assessments documenting hazards, hazard rating, and Mitigation plans for each.
Identifying project specific training requirements.
Ensuring that progress requirements for each design phase are completed for each design phase. Participating in formal design reviews.
Defining requirements, collaborating with suppliers, and performing calculations to size and select components.
Working with Controls Engineers, assembly personnel, and customer to locate electrical enclosures.
Working with Controls Engineers to finalize safety matrix.
Working with customer to complete FMEA and implement design elements.
Documenting estimated machine weight.
Designing and documenting pneumatic schematics. Work with Controls Engineers to align with electrical schematic.
Creating final engineering documentation package including fabrication drawings with complete manufacturing requirements and assembly drawings with bill of material information.

2. Leadership

Motivates self and others by initiating actions, delegating appropriately, and effectively communicates the project goals, requirements and results to team members and management.
Leads project team in execution through delivery.
Provides technical consultation to Engineers and Project Managers on design specifications, progress, risk, communications, and execution in support of projects.
Leads quote team in developing concepts that meet customer requirements and specifications, participates in the appropriate vendor selection process, and supports cost and labor estimates.

3. Business Support and Development

Keeps current with innovative technologies and new ideas/trends in the industry.
Identifies, justifies, and implements new engineering methods, standards and technologies in support of business goals and objectives.
Interfaces directly with customers, both from a technical and selling standpoint.
Supports Sales and Marketing technical initiatives.

4. Personal Responsibilities
