Internal Medicine, Newburyport

Our practice is located at the convenient location of 260 Merrimac Street in Newburyport, MA 01950. As an Internal Medicine office, we provide outstanding primary care and preventative health care to adult patients.

We are constantly aiming to improve access for patients and to meet the evolving health care needs of the communities we serve. The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Practice Assistant to provide onsite administrative support for our Internal Medicine team at our Newburyport practice. The desired schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include managing the check-in process at central reception for a multispecialty practice, including Primary Care, Ancillary Services, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Allergy, and Gastroenterology. Some check-out duties will also be required. Additional tasks include handling mail, faxes, and other administrative duties as needed.

  • Greet patients in a professional manner.
  • Register patient and check insurance eligibility using the appropriate eligibility system.
  • Obtain appropriate co-payment for service.
  • Answer telephones promptly and courteously, using the Pentucket Medical standard 3-part greeting.
  • Transfer, conference and park calls as appropriate.
  • Route calls according to department protocol.
  • Access, understand and accurately make appointments using the scheduling screens within the appropriate system.
  • Oversee waiting area and ensure that all patients are checked in.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or GED required
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 1 year of customer service experience required.
    • Previous experience in a medical office environment preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
