The Head of Engineering will spearhead the company’s instrument design and engineering for future biosensor commercialization. The Head will have an integral hands-on role in building and shaping the foundation of this future-forward start-up, in collaboration with executives, the internal engineering and chemistry teams, and external vendors. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a well-funded, nimble start-up and be a part of a core team developing devices/instruments that could have incredible implications across several fields of study. To optimize internal collaboration, our client ideally prefers a candidate who is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, or is open to relocation, and who equally values an in-person collegial atmosphere. DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS: Successful track record in instrument design, engineering, and build-out from conception through commercialization. Degree in Engineering. Experience with nanofabrication principles and signal processing software. Familiarity with building instruments for organic chemistry and protein sequencing is a plus. Experience growing and leading small teams. Must have an innovative, optimistic, roll-your-sleeves-up mindset. Strong leadership and communications skills.
