**Responsibilities**

**A Day in the Life: Lifeguard**

Responsibilities:

* Ensure the safety of all customers, while they are on the pool deck or in the water using proactive and reactive measures as trained.

* Demonstrate confidence and proficiency in the water.

* Handle physical part of the job (outside all day in the heat).

* Answer questions from customers about the use of the pool.

* Required to wear the uniform provided by State Farm.

* Lifeguard Supervisors and Lifeguards: Required to attend and take a three day course and pass the physical skills test and a written test. Job offer pending the successful passing of the physical and written test.

* Ellis Lifeguard Certification is State Farms current vendor of choice for our Lifeguard Supervisor and Lifeguard certification needs.

* Adheres to established Human Resources and Ellis policies and procedures.

* Maintain rescue ready skills by attending bi-weekly training during employment.

* Communicate with your supervisor on any schedule changes and hours worked.

* Must be completing junior year of high school to be eligible.

State Farm Park lifeguards are typically scheduled for 30-40 hours per week. Hours may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.

****Lifeguards must work at least 12 1/2 weeks out of the 14 1/2 week season**

**Qualifications**

**We are looking for the following Candidates:**

-High School Graduate who is or will be attending college or an equivalent program in the fall Preferred. High School applicants who have completed **at least their junior year of high school will also be considered**

-Currently, enrolled in a college or an equivalent program.

- Work schedule requires the employee to make a commitment to work from the hire date to the end of the summer program without requests for time off (The tentative date range to consider is May 30, 2022 through September 5, 2022.)
