DescriptionThe Ohio State Sales Manager is responsible for leading market sales achievement, profit generation, customer acquisition, merchandising and manager and employee development. They are responsible for increasing sales of consumer-packaged goods and related products to b2b clients within the assigned market.The State Sales Manager's leadership will contribute to maximizing revenue/ profit by driving sales and controlling costs throughout the sales organization. Furthermore, they must effectively support this achievement by building a motivated, high performing and results driven team through effective leadership. The State Sales Manager is accountable for performance across the organization and accordingly is empowered to make decisions on all aspects of the operation including helping to formulate strategy and define the tactics that will allow this strategy to come to fruition.The successful State Sales Manager will work in close collaboration with the Marketing and Production teams to act as a conduit for market feedback to support internal activities and provide the highest quality service levels to our dispensary customers.RESPONSIBILITIES:Operationalize strategy into plans, and goals, to meet the required targeted growth in sales and profit.Creation of budgets and forecasts, seeking to meet sales & profitability projects.Setting individual sales targets and delegating customer accounts to sales team.Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of company products and pricing structure.Identify sales opportunities within assigned market, manage prospects, and acquire new business, and increase existing client spend.Own professional selling process: scheduling appointments, preparing, then delivering presentations, proposals, and product offerings to key decision makers. Follow-up on sale.Closes sales with both new and existing dispensaries by building rapport; explaining our features & benefits and matching our value proposition with their needs.React to changing trends in the industry including purchases trends, new offerings, competitive activities, product shortages, etc. Communicate effectively between all business partners to stay ahead and exceed our customer's expectations.Communicate weekly on sales activities, progress on goals, and status of prospective customers, and improvements with existing customers including challenges and successes with each.Research new opportunities to bring our company & brands out into the community to educate others about our business, and product offerings.Develop growth opportunity recommendations through market research, scouting and competitive analysis.Communicate market needs and trends with the marketing and production departments to improve our ability to respond with poignant communication and in-demand products.Develop and maintain a working knowledge of dispensaries within assigned market to help understand needs and enhance relationships.Partner with Marketing Department to help apprise them of market conditions and needs to develop materials and support activities which efficiently support sales activities.Further understanding of product life cycle including production supply, packaging, and available accoutrements to maximize alignment between customer expectations and company capabilities.Coach direct reports on prospecting including cold calling as well as other innovative techniques to create relationships.Develop Sales Support Specialists to improve their skills and position them to best support sales initiatives.Stay up to date with all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure policy, practice, and communication is consistent with any changes in laws or regulations.Document all sales related activities, activities, travels, and expenses.KEY COMPETENCIES:Functional Acumen - Consistently shows comprehensive knowledge, skills, and abilities in the functional area(s) for which they are responsible and understands the fit with overall business goals.Emotional Intelligence - Consistently executes the four (4) principles of EQ (i.e., self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationship management).Intellectual Agility: Consistently evaluates challenges and opportunities from a variety of angles, taking in multiple inputs, and arrives at reasonable business decisions.Leadership - Lead - Able to inspire others through words and actions to achieve a common goal and meets or exceeds targeted business results.Manage - Able to get specific tasks done through others and meets or exceeds targeted business results.Coach & Develop - Able to observe the job performance and conduct of an employee, identify the employee's strengths and areas for improvement, and formulate approaches to enhance the employee's output, job satisfaction, and commitment to the company. Numbers oriented and KPI driven.Exceptional listening and persuasion skills.Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills.Ability to prepare and execute meetings and presentations.Customer focused mentality to service needs and resolve issues. Experience with high-level negotiation, establishing supply agreements, forecasting. financials & inventory, selling white label products.Must be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed sales/revenue goals.Experience in developing and executing market sales strategies.
