Your Impact The Corporate Counsel – Labor and Employment will oversee a variety of labor and employment matters including litigation, administrative charges, attorney demand letters, and corporate counseling matters that are core to the company’s business. The Corporate Counsel – Labor and Employment will work extensively across various functions to help craft solutions to legal challenges that Lowe’s faces every day. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a collaborative, self-directed, quickly changing, and fast-paced environment. What you will do Litigation Management – • Oversee and manage employment litigation and administrative charges being handled by outside counsel, including the pursuit of risk-transfer opportunities to vendors and subcontractors. • Manages outside counsel budgets and costs related to litigation • Investigate and respond to complaints, investigations, audits and other employment related inquiries Advice and Counsel – • Provide advice and counseling on a broad spectrum of employment law issues including: selection processes employee relations, performance management, leaves of absences and accommodations, wage and hour, internal investigations, sick leave, compensation and benefits, non-competes, re-organizations and immigration • Work with company-wide partners and manage projects with a team approach • Evaluate employment practices and policies to accomplish priorities, and ensure compliance • Draft and review employment related documents, agreements, and templates · Conduct audits, employment classification reviews, and support other employment-related compliance efforts • Help develop and produce training and educational materials for personnel and managers, in partnership with Human Resources. Transactional Duties – • Drafts, reviews, and negotiates a variety of routine agreements and documents and continuously seeks ways to improve the forms, processes, or systems involved • Negotiates with outside parties on contractual issues and legal disputes including settlement agreements or negotiating key contract terms Required Qualification • 5 Years Relevant experience in a top tier law firm or mixture of relevant experience in top-tier law firm, corporate legal department setting, and/or government agency • Active state bar member in good standing of at least one U.S. jurisdiction • 1 Year Direct experience with public company legal issues, processes and procedures • 3 Years Demonstrated proficiency in labor and employment law area Preferred Qualifications • Career track of progressive, documented accomplishments with broad diversity of experiences • Knowledge and exposure to legal issues encountered by a multi-national retailer • Financial literacy, including basic understanding of project finance, accounting, and tax issues About Lowe's: Lowe’s Companies, Inc.
