Projects will focus on process and product development activities related to Saint-Gobain extensive product line. As a Research Engineer II, the candidate will research and develop new technologies to improve processes and products within our business. Phases of development include pilot, scale-up, and implementation of R&D processes into manufacturing. The candidate will take project objectives and transform them in to actionable tasks including research of technologies, design and execution of experimentation, analysis of results, implementation of new processes and technologies, and generation of IP and technical reports. Under the direction of the group leader, the candidate will work in transitioning R&D projects through pilot and initial commercialization phases. The candidate will use processing and system design knowledge to scale products and technologies to maintain desired specifications. This will include working with internal and external resources to develop processing windows and scaling parameters. In addition to process design and pilot experiments for the candidate’s primary projects, the candidate will be expected to conduct experiments to support projects led by others. Responsibilities include: Carries several small projects or studies through to successful completion with little assistance from supervisor. Guidance on project objectives and technical approach are provided but autonomous execution is expected. Projects involve the extension of present or new technology in one or more areas, involving improvement and/or development of processes and testing techniques. Manages and documents projects effectively under minimal supervision by a technical leader or direct manager. Data and results to be presented in oral and written form. Includes the generation of project timelines/plans, technical memos, research reports, and presentations to internal customers, project teams, and/or management. Maintain existing equipment in working condition and perform testing as requested by supervisor and other members of the group.
