Summary/Objective

The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Coordinator is responsible for providing support to staff in their use of EHR/HIM system. This includes support of Meditech EMR/EHR software and hosted services, CPSI Legacy system upkeep & access, EHR user trainings, form and report design, and working knowledge of associated Health Information Technologies (HIT), including Health Information Exchanges (HIEs). The HIPAA Privacy Officer ensures the confidentiality of all patient PHI. This is a salaried position, with after hours call expectations. It is also SAFETY SENSITIVE. Essential Functions

Coordinate the implementation and follow-through for all EMR updates

This involves specialized training sessions for our staff and physicians at all phases of implementation

Understand and apply administrative, ethical and legal requirements to process and maintain the patient data.
Be aware of any new Rules and Regulations concerning EMR requirements to assist in future plans and implementation for BCMC
Assist Hospitalist with the clinical reporting requirements set forth to ensure full payment
Coordinate and lead EHR related trainings for clinical staff.
Assist Management with custom report builds and other projects
Assist in the Clinical Integration aspect of IT projects
Serve as liaison between clinicians and IT professionals to facilitate a common understanding of the clinical standards and process improvement activities across multidisciplinary teams throughout the lifecycle of clinical system implementation and maintenance activities.
When necessary, perform clerical and information technology functions for physicians in the hospital setting.
Evaluate the impact that information systems have on user workflow; identifies workflow and process changes that will enhance the use of clinical information systems; ensures existing and future information systems effectively facilitate clinical practice, the delivery of safe patient care and are consistent with clinical practice standards.
Act as a supporter and change agent for Clinicians to ensure maximum benefit of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and compliance with Meaningful Use objectives for the Critical Access Hospital and Eligible Professionals.
Conveys information regarding the system and its impact on existing standards, processes and forms in such a way as to gain consensus for new ways of doing business and support to effectively implement those decisions.
Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to Quality improvement, chart audits, call back surveys & assisting in specific patient cares when needed.

Work Environment

This job is in a healthcare setting and will involve minimal patient contact. Will involve contact with employees, physicians, and outside agencies. It is important to have a positive influence in this role.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position involves a large portion of sitting and typing.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

EMR Coordinator is expected to work Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm. This is an exempt position and there will be times where hours will be expected outside of the normal business office hours. However, those hours should be very limited and the employee has the option to make those hours up when necessary during normal business office hours.

Minimal Travel is expected

Required Education and Experience
Education:
High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology and /or Bachelor's/Associates Degree in Nursing with current Arkansas Compact State RN licensure.

Skills/Attributes Required:
Effective communication skills
IT Systems Knowledge
Minimum of 5 years clinical nursing experience as an RN in a hospital setting.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and reimbursement processes.

Previous experience with CPSI & Meditech software preferred.
