Cerro Gordo County Accepting Applications for: Elections Clerk Auditor’s Office Job Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Auditor and the Deputy Auditor of Elections. The primary duty will be to assist with preparing for and carrying out elections. This person will serve the public and officials conducting business with the Auditor’s Office and provide clerical and accounting support to the Auditor. Hours worked will typically be Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30PM with some evening and weekend hours required as needed. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; supplemented by up to one (1) year previous experience and/or college level work or vocational training in office administration; secretarial or word processing and spreadsheet skills; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working as a Precinct Election Official or in a County Auditor’s Office preferred. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide prompt and efficient service to the public and other employees doing business with the County Auditor’s office in person, by mail, email, and/or telephone. Compose routine correspondence, billings, and complete forms. Perform data entry. Maintain spreadsheets and documents and produce various reports. Serve as Notary Public. Assist with the preparation, conduct, and follow-up work of elections. Proof, count, and sort ballots; register voters; assist voters with absentee voting; update voter registration databases; maintain absentee voter records; receive, record, and distribute absentee ballots; provide general assistance to voters, Precinct Election Officials, and Auditor Office staff. Perform other duties as required. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and ability to calculate decimals and percentages. Ability to produce reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Ability to effectively communicate with others using correct English. Ability to represent Cerro Gordo County in a professional manner.
