Description
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Process claim/insurance paperwork, mail, and interoffice correspondence generated from and to the credit resolution area.
- Processing includes reviewing documents, creating, generating, and posting correspondence, posting payments, verifying information, and entering on the applicable systems. Review claims documents to create and post correspondence. Post payments, verify information and update system-wide.
- Work with vendors and insurance companies on all aspects of claims and letters of guarantees.
- Prepare and process deficiency balance letters.
- Perform necessary research in resolving problem issues on insurance claims and letter of guarantee, correct discrepancies, and following up with members in a timely manner.
- Work with dealers and insurance companies to process and track insurance, Gap and warranty claims and refunds on repossessed and total loss vehicles. Maintain required reporting of this process.
- Process CPI claims and weekly remittances.
- File repossession damage and expense claims.
- File credit life and disability claims and process the payments.
- Assist management with assigned tasks as needed.
KNOWLEDGE
- Possess an extensive knowledge of all federal, state, and local regulations and laws related to collections such as the Equal Credit Opportunity Act and the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the credit union's collection policies and procedures.
- Possess a thorough understanding of the insurance claim process from the lender's standpoint.
- Knowledge of repossessions, total losses, insurance claims and CPI.
- Time Management-Possess good ability to organize work, plan activities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines for work assigned. Ability to follow through with outstanding items or assigned tasks. Must be flexible and have a strong ability to adapt to changing situations. Willing to put the necessary time in to get the job done.
- Communication- Expresses self positively and professionally in both oral and written communication. Speaks correctly and uses correct grammar and spelling in all communications. Strong telephone skills.
- Interpersonal Skills- Is friendly and interacts professionally and positively with members and staff at all levels to further the goals of the credit union and meet member needs. Uses tact and diplomacy in difficult situations, approaching conflicts from a positive angle and striving to find a win-win solution. Is team oriented.
- Dependability - Possesses a strong sense of personal responsibility to be present for work, punctuality and demonstrates flexibility to do what is asked.
- Analytical - Possesses good problem-solving skills.
- Incumbents should possess at least one year of related experience, preferably in a credit union setting. Two to five years' experience with insurance claims, CPI, and warranty cancellations.
- High school diploma with additional training in office computer skills. Routine attendance of credit union industry seminars, workshops, and conventions is expected.
The position requires the following physical activities within varying environmental conditions:
- Occasionally remaining in a stationary position which may be standing or sitting for a prolonged period of time.
- Occasional travel or moving from one office location to another or from one department to another at the headquarters building.
- Occasional lifting, moving, or adjusting objects up to 20 pounds.
- Constant communication with others through various channels including verbal, email, and chat of which the last two may require consistent use of a keyboard and mouse or another electronic device.
- Work will be in a commercially reasonable temperature-controlled environment.
- Occasional temporary exterior site review which could be in outdoor elements of wind, rain, or snow.
