JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Sr. Director of Infrastructure Security and Automation to support our worldwide software engineering solutions on AWS, Azure and Ali cloud. This technical leader will serve as the Technical Product Manager for cloud infrastructure automation and security. This leader will build a strong partnership with the Application Engineering and Global Information Security teams to provide both strategic and in-depth automation solutions that reduces the dependencies on infrastructure through the enablement of self-service, infrastructure as code and pattern based deployment utilizing cloud native and open source technologies. The Sr. Director must be well versed in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automated pattern based deployments (Platinum, Gold, Silver, etc.) and self-service through different channels that will enable the application teams to move at the speed of their choosing. This technical leader must have a solid understanding of cloud security principals and the ability to automate Marriott’s security guardrails. This is a critical role for the company as we transform the core platforms and digital applications on modern PaaS and SaaS based cloud infrastructure. This leader will have deep hands-on technical expertise and is not afraid of rolling up the sleeves to get into code and architecture to support his/her team if needed. The leader must practice radical candor while maintaining the emotional intelligence to approach sensitive topics and critique for the growth and improvement of the Marriott team.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required Experience and Education:
BS in computer science/related field or equivalent experience, education, certifications
10+ years in technical and architectural leadership on cloud platform, automation, DevSecOps, software and cloud architecture experience, including enterprise, multi-tenant, and scalable solutions including
2+ years’ experience with major cloud hosting service providers, with focus on AWS
4+ years’ experience with high-availability and disaster recovery implementations through CICD
5+ years of people leadership experience; demonstrated ability to recruit, mentor, coach, and develop individual contributors and leaders

Lead the development of resilient, high-performing platforms that process significant data loads while adhering to data privacy and security practices
Lead through scalability phase of growth
Strong automation and problem-solving skills and ability to carry tasks and projects to completion
Propose and implement a best-in-class, scalable, enterprise automation solutions across PaaS and SaaS.
Evaluate existing development tools and formulate recommendation to provide consistency across the development team
Provide timely technical support for internal and external stakeholders and customers
Work well under pressure and remained focused and professional during high stress situations
Work in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Preferred:
Graduate Degree in a technical discipline
Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of bigger and smaller bets across the team, while balancing short-term goals and long-term vision
Comfortable applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to define success
Good balance of IQ & EQ as an expert problem solver that is to be able to solve challenges across people, process and technology
Ability to build strong relationships and network throughout the broader IT community
Experience in the design, implementation and operational support of mission critical products
Strong influencing skills and an ability to overcome barriers while driving change
Certification in technology stacks leveraged for the product (cloud providers, automation tools, operating systems, middleware, etc.)
Experience in researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products
Experience in developing technology roadmaps and strategies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams
Strong knowledge of emerging tools, software, applications, and systems for attaining best-in-class IT technology across the enterprise
Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities
Experience operating in Scaled Agile Framework

Establish the vision and strategy for DevSecOps products for Infrastructure management and security automation
Ability to turn the vision into a clear strategy and plan with a roadmap that can be referenced, tracked and used to measure delivery success
Functions as technical expert and futurist for both senior leadership and project teams in the effective utilization of existing technologies, both enterprise-wide and business-wide
Performs research in technologies that are emerging in the industry as a competitive advantage and reports on that research in terms of business opportunities
Advises on viability of emerging technologies for the business; articulates the risks, costs, and ROI.
Provides guidance to improve operational processes and procedures to improve service, reduce costs, and leverage technologies
Serves as part of the senior staff responsible for architecting new automation products to enable infrastructure management and pattern based deployment
Possesses strong technical acumen; takes a thorough but practical approach to technical design and execution of large projects
Breaks down complex technical problems and drives to the best technical decision based on high level of communication, debate, discussion within the team and with other subject matter experts
Leads the team into the next generation automation with cloud native technologies, serverless designs and microservices
Oversees redesign and self-service enablement of Infrastructure automation tools to automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment flow.
Designs and implements pattern based (Platinum, Gold, Silver, etc.) standardized deployments using deployment pipelines
Identifies automation opportunities to improve DevOps operations
Designs, develops and implements a standard service catalog and multi-cloud management platform to standardize self-service offerings for application teams across AWS, Azure and Ali Clouds.
Identifies new automation opportunities to improve DevSecOps operations
Considers the entire ecosystem while making decisions, from technical implications to business needs, time to market, engineering trade-offs, and more
People Management
Identifies key skills and capabilities needed to assess team strengths and weaknesses
Partners with HR to recruit, develop, and retain top-tier talent

The salary range for this position is $127,088 to $281,923 annually.

The salary range for this position is $127,088 to $256,293 annually.

The salary range for this position is $127,088 to $281,923 annually.
Washington, D.C. Applicants Only:
The salary range for this position is $139,796 to $256,293 annually.

The salary range for this position is $127,088 to $281,923 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus and restricted stock units/stock grants. Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
