JOB SUMMARY

Purpose of the Role:The Head of Bids andTechnical Solutions has ownership for leading the Commercial team throughthe lifecycle of the tender process from receipt of the RFP throughcontract execution and handover to Operations. This role is accountable forcompliance, quality, punctuality of each bid, sharing responsibility forthe strategic win-plan of key opportunities, taking on a leadership rolethroughout the clarification and negotiation process, and supervise,mentor, and develop team members to achieve a broad skills base that cansupport the wide commercial demands of the business.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accountablefor leading and mentoring the team that is responsible for coordinatingactivities related to the planning, development, inputs, and approvals forproposals across the organization.
  • Serveas the primary interface with business development, contracts, engineering,estimating, technical services, operations, supply chain, HR, HSE, Tax,Finance, and legal for facilitating the construction of proposals.
  • Compilecost, schedule, and technical elements for development of proposals inaccordance with RFP specifications and ownership for challenging theinputs, questioning logic, and using technical, commercial, and financialacumen to verify the quality and worthiness of such inputs.
  • Reviewcontracts from a technical & commercial perspective, and, from time totime, leading the commercial team through the execution of the negotiationstrategy - identifying risks, creatively developing counter-offers,understanding the competitive landscape of assets, cultivating strategicrelationships with customer stakeholders, taking decisions on contractualconcessions, defending the company's contractual and commercial positions, andusing critical thinking skills to find solutions for issues that are at animpasse.
  • Recommendmodifications to proposal policies and procedures.
  • AssignCommercial coordinators with tender opportunities and provide guidance fortheir communication flow to stakeholders and other internal departments.
  • Reviewdepartment workload and reallocate work tasks when needed to ensure abalanced distribution aligned to the skills and roles of the team.
  • Overseeand or conduct final compilation, document control, and delivery of tenderdocuments to meet deadlines.
  • Obtainfeedback on tenders (e.g., through close out meetings or via feedbackrequest forms) and collate data to trend reasons for successes and failuresalong with capturing the lessons learned.
  • Analyzingtechnical, operational, and commercial features of the business to identifyrisks and opportunities to advise management on strategic decisions. Provideinput to assist senior management for preparation of board meetings, clientpresentations, and other special projects
  • Ownthe quality control and reporting tools within Salesforce.
  • Accountablefor customer performance feedback with respect to tender submissions andoperations.
  • Participatein the planning, attraction, selection, retention, and development oftalent on the team.
  • Periodicreview of processes in line with department and wider company demands toensure continued suitability. identify opportunities to eliminate wastewithin such processes and align to evolving demands while ensuring risksare adequately identified and mitigated.

  • Experiencein elaborating complex technical and/or commercial tasks -interdisciplinary thinking/acting
  • Possessesa high proficiency in technical acumen of floating drilling units, as wellas an adept understanding of commercial and financial considerations, andis able to interpret and communicate technical issues with potentialclients.

  • Ableto review proposal documents and ensure the highest quality responses areincluded within the overall proposal response with key messages usedthroughout.
  • Effective oral and written communicationskills, with demonstrated ability to influence internal and externaldecision makers.
  • Strongorganizational and planning skills, able to drive a team through theproposals process while maintaining the schedule.
  • Strong facilitationskills, able to control a room for group sessions, i.e., kick-off andstatus meetings.
  • Experiencewith customer relationship management (CRM) tools and processes.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

MinimumRequirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or relevant field.
Experience:10-15 years' experience within the energy, oilfield services, and or/ offshoredrilling environment.
Leadership:5 years' experience directly managing individual contributors in abusiness/commercial setting.
