Summary The Pre-Sales Application Engineer (Controls) supports the sales and marketing efforts of CIMTECs product lines. They review potential applications and provide interpretation of customer specifications to determine the proper equipment to be supplied. Duties & Responsibilities Specify/Recommend appropriate products from CIMTEC's line-card to satisfy customer needs and meet their budget requirements. Conduct demonstrations and online trials of products at customer sites, trade shows, seminars, and events. Make field service calls to troubleshoot, fix, replace, or modify existing systems and components. Participate in joint sales calls with the outside sales staff, for the purpose of, lending technical support to their efforts. Respond to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints with urgency, and ensure resolution in a timely manner. Complete understanding of the CIMTEC product line encompassing industrial automation control systems including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), industrial communication devices, Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI's), and drives (servo & VFD). Familiarity with modern industrial networks (Ethernet) and communication protocols (Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, etc), and legacy serial communications (RS232/485). Provides expertise in the integration of CIMTEC line card products with devices such as Vision Systems, PLCs, HMIs, or Robots. Deliver training of the automation products sold by our distribution partners for both internal and external audiences. Provides account intelligence to sales when communicating with or visiting customers to help CIMTEC win. Travel (40%): Some travel is required to customer sites or training locations, including occasional stays for multiple nights. Most travel is local or regional, but could be nation-wide. Qualifications for the Job Experience Qualifications 5+ years of professional specializing in industrial controls Education Qualifications BS degree in an engineering specialty with a preference towards Electrical engineering Technical Qualifications Familiarity with automation brands typically utilized by CIMTEC Automation including: Emerson, SICK, Horner, Patlite, ABB, NIDEC Control Techniques, Proface, Weidmuller Understanding of basic electrical design principles using software applications such as AutoCAD Other Qualifications A valid drivers license. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
