OverviewWe are seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer on our Fitness product team in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for providing advanced engineering skills and project planning for mechanical or electromechanical solutions or systems within our Fitness product line (including cycling, running, diving, and a lot of other products). Please submit a portfolio with your application. Essential FunctionsAble to complete the most difficult tasks as a Master CAD-user including the completion of complex mechanical designsKnowledge of injection molding, die casting, sheet metal stamping, machining, material requirements, material performance, material limitations, etc.Specify test plans, mock up and test complex mechanical systems with complex performance requirements to validate and verify compliance with design requirementsManage basic tradeoffs, determine risk mitigation plans, determine project goal/objective feasibility, provide technical input to product development plans/concept documents, and drive process vendors to evaluate complex mechanical designs and understand riskLead explorations of new technologies and make estimates on moderately complex mechanical designs including: tooling, part cost, and design timeKnowledge of Industry and Garmin product qualification tests (environmental and others)Provide reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques and offer process improvements and author new procedures Basic QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Aerospace Engineering AND a minimum of 5 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceDemonstrated knowledge and capability to use CAD software (Solidworks and/or OnShape) for completing complex mechanical designsProduct design experienceDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsDesired QualificationsHobbies in the fitness space including running, cycling, swimmingElectronic packaging design experienceExperience with OnShapeGarmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
